My friend and I have been successful in the Fred Whitton ballot, so now just need to pay, book accomodation and ride up lots of hills in preparation!

We stayed in Waterside / Ambleside just down the road from Grassmere (start) but to be fair anywhere in the Lake District is nice.

I did it in 2018. It is a great event, bucket list for a cyclist imo.
I was trying to do it in under 7h10m, didn’t make that, but no foot down on any climb.

Just been looking at the ride stats, oh, to be that fit again.
I was genuinely worried about it, if I could do it, generally scared, I trained solidly for 9 months.
Lean, fit and strong, a good balance for the Fred.
Was it you that did it in 2018? I know someone on here did it the same year.

Just entered the Brecon to Cardiff Classic - 70km - we have friends in Taffs Well so works out in terms of logistics. Will be a good fitness test at the beginning of March.

Does anyone have any news on the 70.3 in Marbella? I have a thumbs up for 2026 but so far there is no sign of registration opening, or even a date for the race.
