2026 Races

I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t go ahead, it always sounded popular.

Remebered to look.

First time was 2011 but the original course that was a bit shorter and started\finished in Coniston. That was the really wet and windy day and Strava reckons I did 7:33 with maybe 10 minutes stopped although I thought I was stopped longer as I was messing around at the first aid station put legwarmers or something on.

Second time when I went bang was actually 2016, 7:56 moving time but about 40 stopped, not sure what I was doing although sometimes when you go so slow uphill it considers you to have stopped. That was about 4k longer, I just didn’t eat enough.

Both times were mostly just off marathon training though as I did London with some cycling then a couple of long rides before the event.

Entered some warmup races:

Icing on the Cake trail marathon, 31st Jan, at Church Stretton, includes The Long Mynd - twice.

Brecon to Cardiff Extreme 76km, 1st March, includes Pen-y-Fan and Cribyn.

These are warmups for the Northern Travese 300km (following Wainright’s coast to coast), 27th March onwards.

I can feel my calfs and achilles going ping just reading that.

Chruch Stretton is the last place I saw some Morris dancers

 no wonder my teenage daughter at the time was WTF.

“Morris dancers perform a traditional English folk dance with rhythmic stepping, bells, sticks, or handkerchiefs”

The Alsdorf Powerman qualifications were published on Friday so I finally announced my travel plans to my family.
Nowhere as much overseas racing as @jeffb but Germany, Spain x2 and Abu Dhabi are now confirmed. Need to get the flights booked soon but at least there is interest in my son and daughter tagging along for the events for the experience which I have not had since my IM days. Both kids want to go to AD but that will be ££££££

That’s a decent schedule! Mine is currently limited to ADH, Barca and the trail race in Italy if my body is working. Accommodation is so expensive, especially if you’re travelling alone.

Would you not be “better off” in a van? Ferry, then drive?

Free accommodation, no airport hassle, etc etc?

From Turkey, would you recommend the Iraq route, or is Syria more scenic?

Any interest? Flyers where I’m sat at the cafe :grimacing:

I’d have to put gravel wheels on the enigma!

Signed myself up for Deka Fit in the summer.

I’m becoming everything I hate. Just wait for the topless IG worthy snaps….

Sounds like Marbella 70.3 has been replaced by Malaga 70.3 which is in mid-October and supposed to be flat, compared to Marbella which definitely wasn’t, despite the fact it was the WC last year.

Would have been interested but is a fortnight after Barcelona, that wouldn’t have been a problem racing wise but not sure I’d get a pass from Greta!

Barcelona Marathon, mid-March, both got places easily with people trying to sell theirs daily.

5 weeks training + 1 week taper after I get back from holiday. Want a PB (3:10 from an Ironman) and ideally 2:55-2:59.

Good looking and expensive start to the season! I think I find out about UTMB OCC this week, depending on how that goes I’ll confirm some other races soon.

Subject to injuries!

Cheapest and the one I am looking forward to is the Carlisle Duathlon in March after you pointing it out to me previously.
