That is 3 seconds faster than my 10km PB
Some good jogging by fruity as well, and a significant temperature drop I’d guess!
It was out local half marathon, too much for me ATM and a bit disappointed as I like to support it. Plenty of PB’s and good times for some friends and clubmates.
I saw that… impressive.
Must be the day for HMs, Strava feed seems full of them.
Yeah, thanks gents, Taunton half marathon for me today. Been a weird 36h with travel and not much sleep, so was a bit pessimistic on the start line.
Decided to set off with the 1h30 pacer group and see how long I could stay with them. Felt ok, got to halfway realising I probably could go a bit faster.
So lifted the pace just a little & think ended up with my first ever negative split, 42 mins for the first 10km and 41 mins for the second 10km ![]()
The last 5km felt pretty hard, there certainly wasn’t any more in the tank, so I guess just by dumb luck this possibly turned out to be a pretty optimal strategy today.
1h28m17, happy with that but the legs now feel every one of their combined 105 years ![]()
Nice work @APM
fantastic effort Fruity ![]()
That’s a mega effort Fruity.
After long haul travel, I can barely speak for a few days let alone run a sub 90 HM!
Tidy ![]()
My training buddy came up and did the half marathon yesterday. He’s a few years older, but frustratingly is a better runner and finished in 1h24.
Anyway there was a short but nasty hill through a village about 17km in, with a bit of a crowd of spectators. As he was labouring up the hill, feeling pretty ragged by his own account, he was surprised to hear someone in the crowd shout “Great running mate, you’re looking really relaxed”
“Thanks” he wheezed
“I wasn’t talking to you” came back the reply!
An M55 friend won his AG at the Boro half yesterday, and he must be getting closer to M60, went round in 1:22!
Good runner obviously!
My friend was 4th M50 at Taunton.
1st M50 was 1h19, the racing snake.
Promise this isn’t a my friend is better than yours game but another was pacing sub 80 and went round in about 79.
Sickening isn’t it!
Let me get fit and we’ll bloody well pace them up Bologna ![]()

M50 is really quite young.
You kids will come to appreciate this sooner than later ![]()
Bloody kids ![]()

Haha
1st MV60 yesteday was 1h25, I thought this game was meant to get easier
All things being well I’ve got my first race I’m hoping to finish for nearly 6 months on Sunday! It’s a 10k in Pathos, I’d originally planned to do the half but delayed entering and thought better of it.
No real target other than to get round and not aggravate the leg, anything below 46 minutes will be a bonus but even that is probably tougher than I’m hoping for.
I’ve survived
knee was tight before but seemed alright when I got going but was probably masked by the suffering of racing
see how it goes tomorrow, it’s tender but no worse than after any run.
TLDR: 44:33, faster than planned or expected but fairly happy despite that being 70.3 pace a few years ago ![]()
It was lovely and sunny even at 7:30 with some heat in the sun and pretty calm wind. I actually decided just to wear my club vest with no T-shirt underneath, that’s very rare ![]()
First K was always going to be a bit quick until I got a rhythm, I’d started near the front to avoid getting held up. Managed to settle into a pace of around 4:20/K which felt manageable but it’s a while since I’ve raced hard or even as long as this. The field was already spreading out.
I’d gone through 4k before I saw the leaders come the other way. Although the course was generally flat there was a few little drags.
I got to the turn in about 22 dead and thought 45 was on if I could grit my teeth but soon realised there’d been a bit of a tailwind as well ![]()
Managed to keep going until 7K where the aid station was but saw my pace had dropped a bit, also felt like a slight uphill drag!
I could then see a gentle descent and convinced myself the pace was still good and see where I was with the 1K to go banner.
I got there with 40 dead but knew there was a ramp in the last 400m and it was going to be slightly over. Dug in and increased the pace in readiness. There was a bit of suffering up the ramp which was barely 50m long and about 10m ascent!
Got round the corner and down the ramp and saw the finish, glanced at the watch and knew I was comfortably under 45
only about 35 seconds positive split.
I was a bit battered though
I think the Zwift efforts have helped with a bit of suffering.
It’s quite a nice race with a full and half marathon as well, temperatures were nice but a marathon would have been tougher after a Uk winter ![]()
Headed down to the Carlisle Duathlon this morning. 5km on the Carlisle Airport runway and then 19km around the airport for another 2.5km on the runway.
Perfect weather if not a tad cool at the start. Ballsed up the transitions on my Garmin as it has changed to a long press since the last update.
Sub 18 for a controlled run and the 31 mins for the bike and the first time on the new TT bike.
Finished 7th overall and 1st V50 in 1:00:15 pretty happy to be only a few mins off the winner.
great work ![]()
Well done both of you ![]()
