Gen 1 Alphas
What a day you’ve had. Well done for getting through it and dealing with all the cards that were dealt. Top work.
Oh….
That’s crazy fast. Love it.
Had the race been full distance I’m not sure I’d have had the motivation to finish
Thanks dude.
I think it’s because it’s the first.
Since my Dad died in 2010 she was always my biggest cheerleader and would drive/fly/jump on a train to what event I was doing.
Fast for that power, but the top guys in my AG were going 40km/h / 25 mph today
Great effort, despite it not going to plan. Recover well.
Well done mate, many people would have bailed. ![]()
Every lap from the swim to run, it was a conversation I was having in my head
How was taking on the nutrition and hydration in the heat, you might have said, I just dont remember reading it?
Impressive improvisation and grit to get through with your shoes falling apart. Would have been easy to stop when that happened.
Yes I can relate ( as I’m sure everyone else can too unfortunatly )
First birthday, Mother’s Day Christmas etc.. they are hard
First Ironman is an issue 99% of the population won’t really have ?!?
Hope you are not too sore and safe travels home
Was tricky as I needed fluid but then it’s sloshy around and also trying to get gels in.
Think I got about 350g of carbs on the bike over 3 1/2 hours
Oh…forgot about this as well.
Only noticed when I tried pouring ice down my back and it just disappeared
Yikes! You really don’t have much luck at this event!
As others have said, chapeau for keeping going… an impressive performance with everything that was going on.
Wow! Everything falling apart!
Can I share those shoe pics with my running club?
Holy fuck!
I just don’t trust Nikes anymore. A pair of VP2s deglued in humid conditions and multiple Zoom units popped on Zoom Tempos. Adidas or Puma for me now.
Go for it
I did the 2nd Chester Tri Aquathlon last night (500m swim/5km run) & although I didn’t have to overcome as many obstacles as @funkster had put in front of him at the weekend I had my own wee dramas.
First of all was the fact that the water was a toasty warm 23degC & therefore wetsuits were banned for all under 60. I’ve been swimming in The Dee for almost 20yrs & have never experienced it that warm, the river life must be under incredible strain
. I’d fully expected wetsuit to be optional & had planned to swim in my kneeskin with lycra shorts & club vest underneath ready for the run but had to swim in shorts, topless & put vest on in transition.
My biggest problem of the evening was having my watch kicked off about 5 seconds into the swim
. Fortunately I could see the OHR lights drifting into the depths & grabbed the watch before it sank out of sight. I swam back to the jetty, climbed out, handed it to a volunteer, dived in & carried on.
Probably lost 20/30secs, absolutely raging ![]()
Run was ok, competition was better this time & I was still internally raging about the time lost on the swim.
It took me until about halfway through my cycle home to finally come to terms that it was very definitely a win not to lose a £300+ watch on a 30min £15 event ![]()
I’m sure spoons lost an expensive Garmin in the med at Nice maybe last year ![]()
Hopefully the river cools a bit, a local pond heated so much last year that the oxygen levels dropped so bad nearly all the fish in it died ![]()
