Nope
Quite fancy the new Full IM in the Loire Valley - looks fast & easy to get to.
Anyone on here done the 70.3 held there?
I was thinking of entering the 70.3 and it looks rapid but I’m not sure if it’s been replaced by the full or if both will run. There’s nothing about the 70.3 opening soon for next year.
I think @awildt seemed to think it was an existing race they took on?
It looks good but a bit early in the year for me.
Yes it was an existing race they took on. This year was the first under “ironman” and they only did a 70.3.
Next year they’ll have both distances. The bike on the full is one lap which will be quite nice. And yes, flat and fast. Just a horrendously long T1 from the river to the exhibition centre where they host it.
Putting it here first, seriously considering a tilt at the Open Water Regional and Nats next year, but only if I can get myself competitive. Recon a 1hr15 would medal at both depending on numbers in my age group. (1.30/100 avg.) It will be non wetsuit.
FFS… you can go off some people.
Sounds great… go for it.
Easier said than done, holding 1:30 in a pool for 1500 is hard enough, but OW is another level so we will see how it goes and if this aching body holds out.
Roth sold out in 30 seconds! I bet Ironman would love a race as popular.
i tried to entry
kid you not it was less than 30 secs
i don,t know how you get in
i had details ready to copy & paste ,said to late full ![]()
Irony being they had a race just like Roth and let it go ![]()
suspect it would not be as big had challenge not worked so hard to make it grow
Is it a fair comparison though? Roth is Challenges Kona, Kona would sell out just quicky if open tickets were sold.
When I’ve quizzed my mates about recent Challenge events (not Roth) they’ve not compared well to Ironman events.
I would have tried but was still in the Cotswolds… reading my shiny copy “Cotswolds Life”
I got in for 2010, I think the entries had been open about 8 mins. Unfortunately, I had was DNS due to some family issues. Year after that, my back went bang and that was the end of any thoughts of Roth.
Yeah, but you just need to be fast on a computer to get into Roth and not particularly great at swimming, biking or running ![]()
Ironman branded events are generally a lot more polished TBF, but I haven’ done a Challenge for quite some time so things could be different.
One of the guys I rode with in Doha got into Roth by buying a travel package- I forget who with- but he says they offered a guaranteed slot. And all the hassle of bike transport and accommodation was taken care of, and I’m sure he said it was only a few hundred euros so not massively expensive in the overall scheme of these things.
Think I’ve already had an email offering it ![]()
I think it was a firm called tri travel? I would love to go back to Roth after I had a calamitous day there. Watching the 2025 event has sparked something again….
However it would mean swimming again so maybe not.
Back in the day when Heilbronn triathlon was a Challenge event, you could enter a lottery for Roth on their Road to Roth scheme. Entered twice and got a spot twice. It seems if anyone here wants to do Roth, they just get up early and go and stand in the queue. The luxury of only living 90 mins away I presume. It’s weird, because I’ve never ever heard anyone here complain about not being able to get into Roth.
Now the race a lot of people want to do here is the Allgäu Triathlon Kult, it sells out every year pretty fast and everbody loves it.
Hmm, maybe if we come and watch Roth next year it’ll be easier to get in by signing up then ![]()
Is the other race a full distance? I’ll have to search for that.
