2026 Races

11 years since I did AdH tri. I was meant to do the long course event, but after inadvertently running a marathon the weekend before, I wisely decided to do the Olympic-ish length event. Would go back to do this in a heartbeat, if I thought I could shuffle around the run.

Is Ironman Leeds going to run again? Asking for a friend.

I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t, I’d expect at least a 3 year deal, but not open yet, wonder if they’re considering a different weekend to keep TC happy

Hope so! I also have a friend who’s interested

I didn’t really think much of Huez either, quite a lot of big hotels etc. for the winter visitors and as iconic as the climb is going up and down regularly was a ballache in the car.

It was definitely warm when I did it, don’t recall it being baking hot but it was 15 years ago, had a few friends that have done it when it was absolutely miserable which always worries me, especially with the descending.

Well, it’s been a long, long time since I frequented these boards, and even longer since I completed any kind of event, but 2026 may see the most ridiculous of comebacks …. given I cannot run (some would argue I never could) due to a complete loss of cartilage in my knee, I am restricted but I have found an event I can do with my boys (who are all grown up now) as a team of four … it’s a 10km mountain hike, 15km mountain bike and 3km canoe event …. small beer in the scope of things, but a target for me. Anyways, nice to be back

Are we putting the band back together? I’d like to know as I currently don’t play any instruments. :+1:

Thanks, Doon. I think it filled quite quickly last year, might be raiding the piggy bank at this rate. It’s a popular race and venue and a lot cheaper than an Ironman.

Talk here and other threads about expensive race entries, some continental ones I’ve looked at with good reviews, some of which are £200 full distance.

Hardman series - Ireland southwest

OlympusMan - Cyprus

Grizzylman - Czech Republic

Infinitri - Spain ~ Valencia (looks like they’re moving down to 70.3 only, used to have a 515)

Ocean Lava Series across Europe.

Events like Tierra Astur 515 Northern Spain show what can be done. Spanish friend recommended it, although not sure I’d move up to a 515. But €400 including your 4 nights accommodation and breakfast

Doon is usually good at finding them as well, the chtriman just near Calais would have been good if I’d started

Edit: also fancied the Challenge at Vieux Boucau but decided on Serbia instead :joy:
