Yay! Good work

Decided to do it this weekend due to extra day off.

Was gonna start Friday morning, but made a last minute decision this morning to start tonight.

If all goes to plan I should finish at 8pm Saturday ready to sleep for a while

This morning’s swim was a by product

2 - Midnight

30:00 / 7:30 mile pace / 121HR

Had some pasta and salad for dinner to fuel the next few runs.
Grabbed a 60 minute nap.
Felt a bit spaced out on this one.
Can tell the ones tomorrow night are gonna be tough

Good luck.

Strange endurance event, could be hard in places I’m guessing.

3 - 4am

29:22 / 7:19 pace / 125 HR

Managed to get 90 minutes of deep sleep and then 40 minutes light.

Cold out there this morning.
Felt better than midnight as dinner had digested more.

Alarm set for 6:50 as I have to get to work and then do my 8am run

It’s like water torture with trainers

4 - 8am

29:04 / 7:15 pace / 132HR

Managed to grab some kip before the alarm went off at 6:50. Shower and off to work.

Had a route I used before in mind, but this is far lumpier than home, so HR went up quite a bit.

Chugging a recovery shake now to fuel the midday run which will be on the same route.

Well done @funkster - strong start

Thanks dude

It’s the ones tonight that I’m dreading

I might be rule bashing here, but if you do your “before sleep” 4 at the start of a 4 hour period and your “after sleep” 4 at the end of the next, can’t you basically get yourself 6 or 7 hours of sleep rather than 3 ?

Nice idea, but you have to do the run every 4 hours. Otherwise you’ve then gotta shift the start times of the other runs

The sleep deprivation is part of the challenge.

As others have mentioned it’s not necessarily the mileage that tough, it’s the unrelenting format

Sounds like, at least so far, you’re doing OK on the sleep front though and that should be a big help; I felt pretty much dead on my feet by this stage but had the benefit of it being Good Friday so was able just to nap through the day.

Also, given the current temperatures, I’d recommend doing anything you can to keep warm during your night run tonight; second night I was both cold and under dressed, and I think that made getting back to sleep after my 3am run a real struggle.

Good luck, and you’ve got this.

Yeah I chucked my winter top on last night.

No thanks…

Is there a race organised by the bearded chap of Barkley marathons notoriety

  • a mile every hour until last runner drops.

Lol. Haven’t run 100 mile weeks since 2011/12 … :pensive:

Have fun. David Goggins … is he the big ex marine fella whom everyone says things like, ‘something something something if David Goggins looks at it’

Bear Gryllis - not very popular with the BMC apparently - something about screwing them over on insurance or something

Sorry … bit vague today

Yes weather still blinking chilly
