This looks like it’s going to proper dig into my arms.
Not the bolt heads, the spacers.
So even with flat bolt heads it looks like a PITA (pain in the arms)

Right no way Im getting 2 tubes in mine - not without a shoehorn
I can shove a 2nd quite neatly on my bottle carrier tho…
(its also the only thing Ive found that will go in that space and be held on by the supplied velcro)
@Poet Sorry, can’t help you as I have used my old rests on aerocoach bars. Yeah, doesn’t look comfortable. Might be ok with a thick enough foam pad.
I don’t have aerocoach armrests anymore as they kept snapping.
Why are the spacers so fat? Are they angled due to what you’re doing with your armrests and extensions? That certainly does look like it would be uncomfortable. I could feel just the bolt head when using mine, even with a super thin washer. can you not achieve any angling via the wedges to the base bar, and then that way the armrests just sit in-line / flat with the rest of the setup?
I’m using angled spacer and an angled washer, to get the arm rests pointing upwards.
Even if I used smaller bolt heads (the recessed kind) it’s still gonna dig in, I reckon?
It’s all as per the instructions and supplied kit;
(Aware the arm rear is the wrong way round before some wise guy tells me - just getting an idea at the minute to see if it’s worth taking the extensions off…which involves recabling )
I use the spare padding from when you replace the bar tape then it can used to cover the bolts and put the foam pad on top.
Any thoughts on merits/drawbacks of either of these 2?
I’ve been hunting high and low, and they seem to be a much of a muchness. Similar price, can’t seem to find it much cheaper anywhere else (with postage etc). unless any of you know of any non mainstream sites that aren’t coming up in my google searches?
Ta
You won’t need them for 113 - there’s enough aid stations
I bought this last week but my seat post and saddle combo will not allow me to fit it.
You simply bolt your 2 cages onto it.
But i’d have no hydration.
Fuel in a downtube aero bottle.
That’s it.
I got this one; if you want a cheaper option (sticks out a bit further, but you can angle it down)
Can have single or double bottle attachment on it. Plus space inside it - comes with 2 velcro straps
Edit - obviously doesnt come with any bottle cages
Gotcha!
@gingerbongo - Could you Post a picture of your saddle and seat post…and aero bars, please?
I’ll pop down the shed later.
Are they doing aid stations this year? Last year, because of Covid, they weren’t. There was an emergency one on the bike in the normal place, but you had to pull up, rack your bike, walk over to a table, refill your own bottle, then unrack and head on your way. Completely unsuitable for anyone “racing”.
You’ve put on clip-on aerobars havent you? The cheap way would be the approach of zip-tying a spare bottle cage between those extensions. Much easier to access there anyway, and you’re not purchasing some otherwise unnecessary equipment. I have a Torhans aero bottle between the arms that I can drink from without moving, but there’s probably no point spending that money for one race (although I’d personally say spending a bit more on something like that is better than £45 on those behind the seat jobs - this is what I have on my TT: https://www.speedhub.co.uk/p/torhansaero30hydrationsystemnewspillsplashproofcap/)
Yep, this generally works really well. A standard bottle cage and 4 cable ties.
Yes, this is what i’m trying to avoid, but i will race again next year and beyond. I may have been able to buy a cheap TT bike by then (if not next summer, then defs the one after), so keeping one eye on stuff that will cross over to that as opposed to being specific for the Endurace, as that would downgrade from everything bike to everything but triathlons bike.
My tri bars are very close together, i’ll post a pic (as per Poet) later.
If you are thinking long term for a TT bike, I’d personally get something for between the arms. I only needed behind the saddle storage once I moved to full and wanted to be self sufficient. The 887ml Torhans bottle is more than enough for a 70.3 (I did take a spare BTS bottle for 113 last year, given it was self supported and is so flat that there’s no weight penalty, but it ejected mid way through lap 1 so didnt use it anyway! - which is another reason BTA is a bit better than BTS … you don’t have the same ejection problem/risk)
Well, I’ve got these sitting around gathering dust;
If either of them are of use, PM me.
I still use the tiny saddlebag that came with the BTS mounts.
Sandpaper inside the cages keeps the bottles in, as does the inner tube knot.
But they’re a PITA to get out.
I guess it depends on the thickness of your arm rest foam
Mine are quite chunky and I don’t feel them at all
Hmm the Speedfill-esque one looks like it could work. I’ll have a muck about this evening and may look at buying that off you.
Thanks for the continued input chaps. it’s genuinely much appreciated.
