Aero on a budget

Also better for massages too if the legs are quite hairy.

(Edit to correct autocorrect of massage to messsge)

never shaved, pretty haiy, never had any problems with hair and road rash. You’d do arms too in that case?

This was my favourite article about it

I think pros shave their legs because they have ‘always shaved their legs’ and they make up a variety of supporting reasons.

I haven’t listened to the podcast, and the wind tunnel results weren’t exactly scientific, so may be time to put that beard trimmer away

15 watts!! That is considerable!

Ahh but how do you know that you’re not missing out on a life affirming, transformational impact if you’ve not tried it vs your current baseline. A man of of scientific method such as yourself Jim should be all over this.

Maybe not considered budget but a chunk cheaper than wattshop/aerocoach

So you want me to shave half an arm or something and then do some high speed bike crashes to get some road rash? That sounds like an experiment you’d do on someone else?

They’re the one’s I have. About twice the weight of the aerocoach ones, but these havent snapped!!

I bought some industrial velcro, and have therefore enabled the foam to become detachable

Just saying Jim. Science init

They’ve just released a V2 and the foam now comes with velcro backing, I’ve got v1 foam and they’re shipping me the new foam when it’s available. There is the Core carbon fibre cup on ebay which is a similar price but I’m not confident with drilling and really liked that this one is adjustable.

Interesting. I emailed them when I got mine asking about velcro, and they said they’d not thought about it. So maybe I was the inspiration. Might contact them about the new stuff

Talk about tempting fate. Haven’t had a puncture for ages then a few days after posting here get a slash in back tyre and tube explodes instantly.
At least it confirms the theory works in practice. I hadn’t put any ptfe tape on the new tube either, but it still inflated fine using the gas chuck.
Lesson was not having anything to use as a tyre boot so had to rip the velcro strap off my glove as an impromptu alternative. Got me home then I carried on and did a bit extra before it let go again 50m from my front door.

Ps. Just as I got home a bus pulled over to see if I needed a lift. :+1:

One of the reasons I always take a gel or something like that with me, even though I hardly ever consume gels now. A wrapper got me back from 70k outside of London before.

Nice improvisation with the velcro strap!!

They were on their last legs (and only cheap ones) anyway. Not sure I’d have been so creative with a nice new pair.

Carry money…

Yep - the new plastic notes make pretty decent temporary boots

I can’t remember the last time I had cash!

Do you have a case on your phone? a note generally fits nicely inside it and you always have it with you.

I’ve cut some sections out of the knackered tyre and shoved them in with my spares kit now.

Can companies please put cycling/sports gear in plain packaging? I like new stuff to just appear in the house so I can claim I’ve had it for ages…

Aero on a budget these are, under a tenner
