Aero on a budget

Oh agreed. Not just the grammar but the whole messy structure of the article.

Quite fancy giving this a go. How easy is it to get on/off as I ride my wheels on training rides quite a lot and don’t know if I’d want to keep it in disk mode.

That’s the kind of content I am on here for :-).

Can you take the discs on and off? And what tape do you use? given my experiences with gaffa tape and the like I would expect them to come flying off on the first speed bump…

I have a set of Aerojacket covers, I fit using the plastic screw studs rather than tape. Takes about 10mins to get them on and off and much of that time is removing/replacing the cassette.

Hmm, tempting me to try the TT helmet again. I cook in it though.

While it may be possible to fit / remove at whim, once on, that’s where it stayed

You’ll need to whip off the cassette to fit and, as suggested, an extra strip of electrical tape to prevent (at least limit) marking carbon rims. The dish of the drive side “disc” is unlikely to be perfect so I wrote off using the smallest sprocket to avoid chain rub.

I definitely felt like I was going faster… and that’s all that mattered! You can’t go wrong for <£50

When I order one (or take up @leahnp kind offer) it’ll remain on the PX101

The aerojacket looks a bit more detachable. But I’m guessing it could get pricy with shipping and duty to pay from the US.

I got mine 10 years ago from Bike Science in Bristol, they are not showing on their website anymore though.

Wow, are BS still going? I had a fit with them. Wasn’t it the TTer known as Red Leader that ran it? I can’t remember.

Seems there is a clip-on version in the UK, but quite a bit more ££ for the convenience of easy on/off - and they suggest cable ties to the spokes so not that easy. Heavier too.

ah yes, Redbiker. They used to be a dealer for Legend, which were some tasty frames.

But they’re £2.99 delivery, making the Tredz ones cheaper :sunglasses:

And they’re £9.95, not a tenner.
Making them £22.89 for the pair.
So Tredz is £1.91 cheaper.

I’d already discounted them in my research :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Gotta keep the eyes on the pennies.

Bandits at 3 o’clock…Tally Ho!

But you could’ve got free P&P if you bought their GP5000 & innertube bundle. Inner tubes could always be used when not racing.
