I’m really surprised the rag is still going. It was good in the first year, in fact I was on a training camp in Mallorca with Henry Catchpole and Mark Baily a few years ago, both top blokes. However, as is inevitable, the mag became repetitive but when repetitive is also married to pretentious, it gets old.
Bowers was very ill informed in most of his writing, particularly when it came to racing history. I can’t imagine his ego has allowed him to educate himself these days. he’s very fit, just very wrong most of the time.
Pack of Maurten gels and 1 drink mix reduced on sigma sports for black friday. About the first time I’ve seen Maurten reduced. Not a massive reduction, but two boxes would give you the same amount of gels as a box of gels, and then you’d be getting two powder mixes worth £7 for about £1.50 extra (plus two free bottles, but who needs more of them!)
Navy - yeah Spitalfields. I think it was the last one there. Only other colour was plum in large. I got a medium. Pretty snug with a thick polo shirt underneath
I bought two pairs of trainers that were so-called BF deals on Wiggle. They were cheaper but not amazingly so. Bought them more for stocking up on older models than anything else.
I bought nothing for myself. Managed to get 20% off my wife’s Christmas present and glad I was too lazy to buy it the weekend before like I had planned.
My wife got me my Christmas present on Black Friday so that perhaps counts? It was a Garmin Varia, which I have been interested in getting for a while, and was on big discount.
I did spend a few hours looking at “adventure” bikes. The ones in the sale were either not in my size, or not actually a good deal.
Don’t think this has already been posted, but a hefty 35% black Triday off Castles Tri events, ends midnight Dec2 Monday.
Lots of cheap Huub stuff, tho some of their suits being so fragile (made of chocolate) it needs to be. You really do need a pair of white gloves and no fingernails when putting them on.
Fri 06 Dec2019 at their Tilbrook warehouse, Milton Keynes MK7 8HX.
Lots of Trek/Bontrager etc. bargains to be had. Some is retail stuff, some is unused factory samples, some is lightly used and refurbished press samples, including bikes. Hard to say exactly what will be there, but usually A LOT of new road and MTB shoes at really low prices (especially large and pixie sizes), small selection of carbon wheels, a few bikes and lots of clothing and accessories. Last year there were close to 100 people outside at opening time so it is almost a proper scrum. Cash, credit and debit cards all accepted. Free coffee & usually biscuits. 3 sessions during the day, but nothing usually gets added to whatever is already out.
