Brownlee to race Ironman Ireland

Brownlees nutrition for the race. Think it was the mars bar that did it

18th (JB), 21st (AY) and 27th (TB). Think it’s fair to say if Yee hadn’t come on the seen this year there would be no chance of qualifying 3, it’s still touch and go.

Merge with Rant thread?

Not a fan then?

I see AB is down for 70.3 Dun Loaghaire.

That’ll be Kona-esque…

I guess the main takeaway is that he’s going all in for Nice/Kona and not dabbling with ITU Grand Finals/Tokyo test events.

Wonder if this is the decisive move to LC?

I thought that. JB is out in Japan now and AB commits to a nice and soggy Irish half (and i’m not talking Guinness).

Nice little tune up before Nice, but i assume he’s not there for temperature acclimation?! haha

I wonder if IM (Ireland) did a deal with AB in doing the Irish events similar to the deal he had with Challenge ?

Looks like a nice event from the bike course photos; no idea if the whole shebang is up to the mustard?

Tri bike, deep section, gravel.

I notice that under “What To Bring” on race day they have left out ‘umbrella’ and ‘waders’ so they clearly haven’t learned anything.

If the roads south of Dublin are anything like the roads north of Dublin I would sincerely doubt it. And if it’s not closed roads, I wouldn’t even consider it.

But Dublin being Dublin, the athletes after party should be worthwhile?

GTN EP105 (The cheating one)
About 8 minutes in, some more photos of the “roads”
It looks like gravel. Actual gravel.
But so pretty

I just had a look…
Going to be some spectacular offs, when a few thousand trianthlopes try and come down there like Froome and co.
Hope it’s a good safe race

I do too.
It does look stunning. The circuit needs more courses like this.
Get some nice 25mm tyres on at a low PSI and it’ll be reet

Another Franken bike on the way
Spectacular parts list and 28”s…

Looks nice… not so nice looking up at the sky wondering what’s broken …

Ali should smash it…

Has the age group race had a short swim? They are putting in faster swims than Brownlee.

He’s already well ahead, of the pro’s.
