Brownlee to race Ironman Ireland

500 eur for no swim and a soaking 21% hill that you have to get off and push your bike up. Nice work mDot.

I’ve never even been there but it doesn’t seem all that surprising that the weather sucks in early summer in Ireland.

Wont be doing that one

Looking at it, not sure I would do it if they gave me the 500E.
Probably still sell out next year though…?

Looks like a nice day to take your bike out for a walk.

I can’t see how AB is going to make 30s per mile up on Brian McCrystal…

Leader first 5k in 21 min.

Get back from my smashfest, to see that this event is doomed before the winner even crosses the line.

That’s how AB is going to make it up on him.

Looks awful. There is a pro man running with a space blanket on

I was nearly impressed but my Strava feed had a 3:38:02 100 miler above you, so, you know

Pro bike times are More like top age grouper ones.
AB “only” rode a 4:49:xx :scream:

Anyone can ride sub 4 up & down a dual carriageway, anyone

McCrystal looks like he’s running scared, I predict a big slow down.

AB taking 30s per km out of him in first 5km…3:30/km…interesting to see how he holds out.

Agree conditions look…erm…character building

I can’t :see_no_evil:
12 and 24 minutes short :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Anyways…have you see the footage?
BC looks pained, or does he always run like that?

That seafront wooden walkway doesn’t look too slippy :open_mouth::wink:

“Through 5.3 kilometers, Alistair Brownlee made up 1:20 on Markus Thomschke and 2:30 on Bryan Mccrystal. The back-to-back Olympic champion runs at a 3:40 pace.”

Should pass him at 25km at this rate…exciting times!

The footage has been great, considering the weather conditions :ok_hand:t4::+1:t3:

3:30/km after that bike. Blimey.
Looks like Thomske and Brownlee will catch McCrystal if they don’t also slow down. He’s a bout a min/km slower at the moment.

Is there a live feed, or are you just tracking?

Second 5k, everyone slowed, is it hilly or just rogue position of timing mats.

BM still plodding at a good pace…c’mon AB.

Could be close…

Was there a first run, or just bike/run?

BM is not a natural runner is he. Thought I was watching a MAMIL for a moment.

Bike TT start with time gaps, so positions o road not true to time. AB has this if he can hold pace as only 6min 30 behind BM at 15.3km mark and running faster by 20 secs per km

I see most of the good pros either DNS or DNFd. I guess if you have your KQ or not planning to go, then they aren’t really motivated to do this. Certainly in Vanhoenacker’s case.
