and climate change…
Is this because his updates (5 of them!) have gone “wacky” ie LCHF, modern thinking on running form so book is showing its age, or were you always wary of it?
not sure that i was always wary of it…but a fellow coach bought it and began to use it as a coaching bible with some interesting ideas…but he certainly had to apologise over his links to Nike…
True, money in anything really. But one cannot deny the shrinking of the world’s ice caps & glaciers; the ever rising record temperatures. Well you can I suppose; but it’s silly.
It is true that Earth was very slowly (still) coming out of the last Ice Age; but the rate at which the climate is changing is #notnormal.
big bucks, i think…
the problem is less in the denial, but in the very necessary discussions which are absent at present…
nope, there’s never been a 2023 like it…
Again, it is less that it is changing and more about what can/needs to be done…
I have it upstairs, not even sure the edition but bought it 15years ago maybe for personal consumption not coaching. I suppose it would be good to read back at some point with my coaches hat on just to see the old ideas and how relevant i find any of it. wont be getting v5 though
4th edition, its still 21 years old! I seem to have some post it notes in it , learning from the experts and this that i clearly only ever got to week 2 in
Quite a few of these people are Russia apologists too, I’ve noted.
Convergence can be an artifact introduced by the observer.
But. Russia is funding all things anti establishment in the West. Not the only source of funding obvs.
Absolutely, which is why I used ‘seems’.
I know a couple a few people IRL who are LCHFers. One has gone ‘full Noakes’, one wants to go down conspiracy rabbit holes but he keeps finding his way out. He has back tracked several times, another is zealous on LCHF and is anti-vax but no others. The one guy I know who has properly gone over the edge with conspiracy theories, anti-vax, chemtrails, Trump was robbed, flat earth (for real), WEF, Ukraine isn’t even a country, etc. he eats carbs but has been smoking weed prodigiously for the last 30+ years.
The flat earth one I find the strangest, firstly this guy is well travelled and we have a mutual friend who used to live in Oz but now lives in NZ. Apparently the spherical earth was made up by NASA to control us. I asked how that controls us but he wouldn’t answer that directly. The various platforms have removed him from social media.
The one has gone ‘full Noakes’ doesn’t talk to me anymore as I love a debate and he doesn’t like science
Well, everyone hates the ‘west’…until it comes to booze, hookers, designer goods, our education systems, our general freedoms, standard of living and of course, getting small boats across the Meditteranean to be here.
Saw a meme last night basically saying the East German’s rushed to the west rather than the other way round.
Should send them to NK and see how long they last!
Jens Voights book is interesting in the way he viewed West Germany the first time he crossed, although to be fair, he admitted he had a fairly decent life as a young athlete with huge prospects.
That’s the edition I have. Just pulled it out. Pages 140-154 seem to discuss carbs. He doesn’t seem LCHF, does this happen in the intervening years I really don’t keep abreast of these developments?

He doesn’t seem LCHF
Yes hes gone on record saying he was wrong. He developed diabetes, went low carb and apparently reversed it (or helped it) . I dont doubt cutting refined carbs would help with type 2 diabetics , but as with most things we are all different

In men (predominantly) #thescience is proving that LCHF does indeed reverse and essentially “cure” T2D. Medical world was very reluctant to jump on his “miracle” cure bandwagon but there’s more and more evidence to show that it is actually working. So you do see the LC advice being published more often.

Well, everyone hates the ‘west’…until it comes to booze, hookers, designer goods, our education systems, our general freedoms, standard of living and of course, getting small boats across the Meditteranean to be here.
everyone loves the west for coming up with the individual as sovereign and somehow making it stick…but because no one alive today actually had to strive t achieve this or seems to understand or care, it will soon be eradicated…
There’s been several studies over the last few years on both LCHF and low calorie diets revesing T2 diabetes.

everyone hates the ‘west
Everyone loves the West.
Which is why non-Western dictators hate the West. And love calories.
Is what I believe you said.
