Sort of, I have tried using MAF to start, just as a guide (nose breathing isnt far off at about 135 ish anyway) 132 for me at 48 but I do relax it to about 137 which seems to be where it settles generally on the flat at a shuffle, and after 2 weeks, 5 runs (1 did have some hard stuff in yesterday) I am walking less on the flatter routes and running a little faster for HR. anything of 1% climb though and the rate shoots up to mid 140’s though.
Our Son (9) is carrying quite a lot of puppy fat. He’s active, but loves his carbs like pasta. He doesn’t have much in the way of sweets or chocolate etc; he just eats too fast and we need to reduce his portions I think.
It depresses me when I see what other kids shovel in and they are no more active than him, and stay skinny.
Both my kids shovel food and in and despite our best efforts dont have a great diet. My eldest would put fat on , then shoot up in height a few times, last time though she seemed to retain the fat.
My youngest is a lot more active, she uses the treadmill 3 times a day, although she does short bursts of sprinting as thats fun and she is skinny as anything
yes listened yesterday to it, nothing mind blowing and lots of “it depends” as anyone good in their field should say. hopefully it gets across the point that we need more protein, especially as we age. Most people dont get anywhere near enough (me included)
partly, but the calories you put in your mouth ultimately end up the available calories. but “it depends”
such a shame such topics always end up with polarised simple arguments (its cico/its not cico) when as with most things theres a spectrum that creates the simple argument at either end. yes its cico, but that cico equation is different for everyone and affected by many different things.
I thought the science behind protein having a lower percentage of the calories in the item available to the body was fairly well proven and accepted as compared to carbs especially simple carbs.
