Commonwealth Games 2022

A leaner …made it upright in the end

Shame more didn’t go with the pace early on so they got a bit more of the action.

Strong showing from all the UK athletes - want to see the results

Looks like 35-40km was the killer for Adams.
Kiplangat knocked out a 14:24 5k 30-35!!!

Physio was telling me the world champs marathon guy knocked out a 28min 10k between 30 and 40k I think!!

Has the 2021 games and then very recent world champs (athletics and swimming) made the commonwealth champs a bit of a pointless or second rate exercise? Only 18 men in the marathon. Seems crazy.

World’s, Commies then Euros all within a month is going to dilute the fields, especially for the Brits who don’t have much depth to start with.

Bit disappointed that Jonny Mellor didn’t try to go with the early pace, he’s good enough to be there or thereabouts when bronze is won in 2:13

Walked out of the office toward the pool past an open air screen just as Yee caught up with Wilde! Perfect.

Watched the full replay last night, what an effort.

Ladies would’ve been great too but Duffy was a bit of a no brainer for the run.

Yeah but in Jake Weightman’s case - if he’s in the form of his life - he’ll get three titles in the space of 3 months? (Europeans next) Then just has to go to olympics and get the grand slam. Spotty/ Knighthood here he comes lol

Imagine being a reigning World, European and Commonwealth gold medalist :hushed:

Colin Jackson was that wasn’t he - but eluded him at the olympics - didn’t he get a silver?

… Yeah I see he ran a 2:10 this year :face_with_monocle: - flat course. B’ham had a few bumps didn’t it

In an interview I just saw Mellor said it was the toughest marathon course he’s ever run

They did all look pretty knackered at the end

Least he didn’t headbutt the railings :hushed:

Just seen that NZ are appealing the Wilde penalty. Apparently it could take up to 30 days to get a decision and if successful he’d be awarded a dual gold with Yee.
He says his bike was racked but he used it to lean on whilst changing. Not sure how that sits with letter of the law.

Should have just let them race it out at the end lol
