Everything is a bit all over the place with the coverage, have I missed any Eilish post-race interviews?

C’mon KJT.

Breaststrokers don’t do tumble turns. Banned, or just not as quick?

Performances like that are inspiring

My gf was on her feet in the living room screaming at the telly :grinning:

More to come - hopefully another epic tussle - Laura muir’s also running the 800m, pitted against Keeley Hodkinson

Did I see that right?! A Kenyan sprinter :hushed:

From the overhead you could see the Aussie’s stroke just start to break down a bit in the last few metres whereas Dean kept his long

both hands have to touch the wall, so that rules out a flip turn

His 200 endurance kept him honest. Michael Phelps famously said, “if you want to swim faster at 100’s you gotta train at 200’s” , definitely helped here

And synchronised at the same time on the same plane.

Fly as well you arent allowed, 2 hand touch turn

I thought this changed at the same time as the backstroke turn changed, and now it’s just same time?

Its a grey area so i coach parallel touch still on Br. I did my J1 last year and whilst the wording changed on the turn , the stroke rules didnt so in practice some judges will call you for a stroke violation, and some wont. The FINA rules are a bit of a joke to be fair, many open to interpretation (like fly stroke some judges interpret clear air between hands and water on recovery some just arms just break surface)

Can I ask what is the purpose of specific rules about the turn?
To the layman, as long as you touch the wall with something you’ve covered the full length of the pool so why different rules for different strokes.
PS. I know this is controversial but I’d get rid of all strokes and just have the distances, cover them any way you like [Freestyle we could call it ]

It came up briefly when Ellie Simmonds was talking about para swimming and how they account for those with one hand. Apparently the shoulders have to be square on to the wall.

That doesn’t answer why I guess. (I mean it does for para swimming).

Oooo there’s a Pandora’s box. You thought tri rules were padantic. Swimming, like cycling, has such a long history that the rule makers are fossils and so are their rules. It’s remarkable they allow the touch judges to wear coloured clothes these days
