Anything with Gretel Bueta :yellow_heart: :green_heart:

She’s a machine!

Eilish - race of the games. Final lap tussle - wow

& Laura Muir’s arm thrust finish in the 800m

Triathlon mixed team relay. It was a walkover after Yee’s run but just an insanely entertaining and engaging event and great battle for the other medals.

Thanks. Time difference meant I only watched what I deliberately sought out, so just caught up on some of these highlights.

Women’s 800m :exploding_head: not sure I’ve ever seen pacing like that!

It’s been a good games, thought the coverage was ok.

When I played in the 02 games it was literally a bloke with a clipboard and about 50 people in the stands.

Seriously though - that’s super cool. Water polo was it (think you mentioned that previously)?

Where was 02? It does seem the Brits love a big sporting event. To the extent that athletes seem to be attracted to competing here.

Worlds in Eugene was pretty poor at times, as was Doha. Will be interesting to see how Munich goes, and the World Cup in Qatar.

I just sat on the bench, or mostly the stands watching on.

It’s genuinely nothing compared to some of the achievements on this forum. Certainly no humble brag, it’s hardly worth a footnote!

Casually dropped that one in! Love it

She stopped for a fag and a pint, then thought  better get a move on. Hysterical. Wonder if it will change way people race the 800m

Kelly Holmes used to just sit at the back then open up at the end didn’t she… looks like Keely has one other athlete to worry about. Great for the viewers though

Wasn’t 2002 Manchester? :man_shrugging:

Europeans start on Monday

Gemili’s thrown in the towel for this year. He’s had an annus horribilis

Enough about his bum, his running wasn’t great either

So a quick Google shows that the English team took bronze, which leads me to ask if you’ve got a medal?

No, as I didn’t have enough game time!

Oh bugger, helluva thing though.

I remember the run up to those games a fella at our work was very excited about being a volunteer. We all thought that it was in Manchester & therefore would be a load of old wank.

We were sooooo wrong :joy:, it looked fantastic & certainly set the marker for the London Olympics.

The summer of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics was an amazing time to be in London. The whole city was buzzing. I was a Gamesmaker for triathlon and road cycling and had such a good time.

I was running one of the crossing points on the bike course in Hyde Park. About an hour before the men’s race I walked down the inside of the course to the next crossing point down to have a chat with their team leader and the number of people lining the course was incredible. I think the estimate was 1 million people in Hyde Park for the race :open_mouth:

I went to that race, it was brilliant, on the bike course where they entered the park I think and saw them a few times each lap.

Then legged it to a pub to see the end of the run.

Excellent experience and atmosphere, must have been great on the course.
