Yesterday I got pretty wet. 10 mins after I got home though the heavens proper opened. Very windy also.
Surely everyone in the east of London works on the docks or jellying eels or something, all the bankers live in Surrey, so I think Adam’s fine.

Just starting to see some daylight now so looking forward to getting off the main roads and back onto the country lanes in a couple of weeks.
My new front light is great. I got this in the end:
Perfect brightness on pitch black roads 
Getting hacked off with my expensive Hunt (£85) gloves now … tempted to have a punt on Doonhamer’s Galibier recommendation for £25 to see if they outperform them
And one word on peaked caps - you look like a knob in one, everyone who looks at you will think it, even if they’re too polite to say

Home to station my road bike. London station to office I ride a MTB frame but with Boris bike tyres and an upright handlebar so basically a hybrid. It’s a complete snotter as i leave it at Euston. I made it a bit of a q bike though. It works really well and everything it tuned, but it looks like shit. I changed the cables and purposefully frayed the ends etc. Super glued ball bearings into the saddle hex bolts so no one can nick it.

Normally a CX bike with rack/guards and 28mm tyres. But since Xmas I’ve been using my drop-bar frankenbike MTB with a sprayguard on the back wheel and Schwalbe Marathon 1.75 tyres. It’s pretty comfy tbh, and the tyres good on the crappy roads.

Road bike here with race blades and lights the only additions, 'twas a bike to work buy, bit of a Trigger’s broom bike though now after 5 years in service

Pinnacle Pyrolite gravel bike for me with 650b wheels running 42mm clement strada tyres and full mudguards, very comfy but mighty heavy!

For when I do/did commute:
Orange P7 on road tyres with backpack (for when my commute was 16 minutes)
Pearson Touche fixed 48*17, running on some 28mm near bomb proof tyres, fixed mudguards and rack.
Altura waterproof panniers for clothes, gym kit and laptop.
Leyzne 500XL light up front * 2
Leyzne 5-LED rear light
some cheapo Wilko’s light permanently attached to the frame
an old CatEye clip light to attach to the pannier
That was my setup for a 26-27km commute
Got a winter Ribble Reynolds 725 now, with gears, as I expected a hillier route.
Will use a backpack with that one once I start commuting again.

Old 1980’s fixed tail MTB frame for me, built up in Jorgan Frankenbike style with straight bars, 26” wheels with touring tyres and an old Deore XT triple groupset, but with a newer Deore crank and chainrings.
Works a treat, fitted with decent mudguards and panniers.
Weighs the same as a small family car.
Have also now fitted with Cycliq HD camera/lights front and rear

Do you have suspension forks to add some weight to the front end? They make climbing out of the saddle a joy; even on ‘lock out’

Shed find Coventry eagle. Given it for free and spent about £100 on it. Inner and outer brake and gear cables, tubes, schwalbe marathon tyres. Only have a short 2.5m commute but use it everyday. Only issue is the brakes are dire in the wet but no major hills to negotiate. Will probably convert to single speed at some point.

Nope… the frame is so old, that I struggle to find anything useable that fits the headset… its a quill stem. So, its still got the original fixed forks.
I did however, treat myself to a really nice leather Brooks saddle, which was worth every penny!

I have a Genesis Datum with Mason Hunt all season discs.
When I started commuting I worried that someone might realise how valuable it is but with mudguards and panniers plus a constant layer of muck I don’t worry any more. Plus I have a gold standard lock so will get insurance if it is stolen
