Commuting & Winter Riding Thread

I assume the first named storm of the season

Ah, no. Due to logistics not specifically because of the storm though.

Was looking bad for me, but now suggesting light wind inbound and a normal autumn wind home.
If the direction stays the same I’ll ride.

T shirt weather here today. Calm before the storm maybe? Still commuted by bike and shall continue all through winter again.

I would ordinarily have cycled to work tomorrow, but I need to work from home.

Thursday morning was really chilly on the way in and short sleeved jersey was not the right choice! I got absolutely soaked on the way home.

Today felt a lot milder. There seemed to be a lot more cyclists today than I’ve seen in the 3 months that I’ve been working here. The cycle superhighways were absolute mayhem - people all over the place and ignoring lights etc. Pretty scary after my accident last year :flushed:

Who’s “Agnes”?

Is this some person for World Cycling Day or something?

Like a cycling Greta, at war with cars?

Anyways, I’ll be walking the dogs, then my wife to the station, where I say my farewells, then will swim for a bit, then walk back home. Before commencing a day of work, culminating with a brief jog, then walk the dogs to the station to meet the aforementioned wife, walk back home and prepare an evening meal; most likely based around mackerel and beetroot.

No cycling.
No Agnes.

Keep up with what?

The 24/7 media news cycle?
No thanks :x:

I checked out of that in April/May this year :white_check_mark:

Weather forecast?
Open the curtains and can immediately tell what the weather is :+1:t3:

Club rides were cancelled last weekend because of that carbon-melting, ego-bruising rain that They had forecast, with their #ScienceFacts

It’s all make believe

It’s crap; being within 2°C of the days temperature 92.5% of the time is naff.

hey, employee, we will pay you within £x of your salary 92.5% of the time…

Erm. I’m okay :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If it’s 25° it matter not.
But when it’s 2°?
That’s the difference between little to no frost and icy roads.

So I’ll just use my eyes and nose to tell the weather now, thanks :grin:

Well it’s lovely here, just been out in shorts and ss top.
I suggest you could get out for an all day ride today based on that forecast

Prince Harry got in a lot of strife for that sort of thing

Unless you’ve gotta work :sob::sob::sob:
But yes, it’s lovely here too.
Overcast, but a temperate 17° with only a light breeze

My ride in was also extremely pleasant. Just a crisp of freshness, but not cold and hardly any wind.

However; also dark. Out before sunrise - depressingly dark (not helped by wearing sunnies )

Same for me, absolutely no reason to pack waterproofs of any sort.

no storm Agnes here, but I voted yes- is that cheating ? An oncoming Mitsubishi pick up just nearly took me out on the way home mind, by turning left across my path as I was gunning along at around 30kmh. Reminded me not to get complacent, this isn’t a place for day dreaming on the commute. :ambulance:
