Cotswold Classic / 113

I saw that chap on the ground. Fingers crossed he’s OK. And hope you’re OK too buddy. Sounds like a mega eventful day for you!

Sounds eventful but still decent times. Well done

Got a bit lost?

Fast run

Nope, you had lost your number by that point.

Sounds eventful! As you say, not much you could have done and he was in the hands of the professionals.:crossed_fingers: he is ok.

Cracking run, given the circumstances!

How did you manage to spot me? Just on the braids? :joy:

Yes and no

Yeah, I was on a corner about a mile from the end of the lap. Shouted something about @chickenboy not being too far in front of you.

Was keeping my eyes open for the numbers of @Sowler & @Sparky but didn’t spot them. Having read about Sowler’s misfortune I guess that explains why I didn’t see his number.

Quite an eventful days all round it seems. Hope you can all take postives from it!

My role wasn’t the best I was supposed to had ask runners not to cut the corner, and ask everyone to keep the noise down/move on since it’s a village that has a serial complainer. So made cheering you on a little difficult.

Were you running with a lady with braids, both wearing same kit I think (pinkish)?

I did a lap with a very short lady. We both had braids :joy: Both in black kit, well mine was black and red. She actually came 3rd fastest female and ran 1:26 :clap:t2: I couldn’t keep up on the last lap. Was nice chatting with someone though for a lap and a bit.

Shame there was a few problems and you didn’t have a great day GB, it’s actually quite easy to go off course on a twisty one like that.

Clearly you need another one to put this one to bed

Talking of put to bed, I’ll be surprised if GB posts again this evening :sleeping_bed::zzz:

I’m bloody wide awake, but my legs aren’t happy and my eyes are all red and scrunchy and I can’t see properly! :joy:

I’ll do a proper report tomorrow. But I think it was basically a catalogue of small issues/circumstances that added up to conspire against me today. Really annoying as it’s the first time in forever that I’ve been 100% niggle free for such a long time in the build up to an event. I was feeling in really good shape, and now it feels wasted. Not sure there’ll be any immediate goodwill to disappear for another race any time soon. :joy: Especially after a rainy afternoon at home with the kids bouncing off the walls!

My calves are still twitching constantly even now. The drive home wasn’t fun either, in torrential rain, 50mph on the motorway with tonnes of spray etc. Lucky we missed that weather front!

Ego had taken a hit, but i’m already more level headed about it all than I would’ve been 3-5 years ago. But that’s 2 races in a row that have gone crap now (albeit 18 months apart!).

One thing is clear. I need a bloody tt bike if I want to play this game. My hammies and neck are so sore, despite lots of dedicated training. That endurance bike is just not set up for that position…obviously.

You did the same average speed as I did on a TT bike :scream::scream::scream:

On a positive note, you give lovely hugs.

Oh and yes, you need a TT bike

Haha, true story, went off like a loon

TT bike you say?

Drafting like a pro :sunglasses:

Nah, I was very honest and dropped back. But it inevitably made some difference. Was on my own pretty much all second lap, but that also coincided with a drop off in power which I need to get to the bottom of. I have some theories.

Not disrespecting GBs bike efforts but the drafting situation was bad and almost impossible to avoid. If I wanted I could have easily drafted my way to a very quick time with little chance of a penalty. I’m sure GB played fair but even my time I don’t think I could hold as 100% genuine but I’m very new to this game so really I know nothing :man_shrugging:t2: The lack of swim clearly caused problems.

Looking at most people’s splits, that was the order of the day! No swim to temper the adrenaline
