It bloody wants to be dry!

With the surface of the course, I would never have used 4%. I chose not to use NEXT% simply as it wasn’t a hugely meaningful race. I went with zoom fly flyknit, and they were fine.

Thanks, you say the surface wouldn’t have been good for the 4%s surely that would be the same for the NEXT%s then wouldn’t it? Or are they different in terms of grip?

You reckon? Feels more like 50% off road.

Maybe, that back stretch feels long, though, I managed a good speed on that bit, it was the first bit around the lake I felt slow on.

Worse bit mentally for me is the first off-road section from T2 up to that R/H turn along the top of the lake. I hate that bit from the car park to the top turn at the start of each lap.

Do you still have to hop over that bloody log? Everytime I did it that triggered some sort of cramp

Imagine jumping over it 5 times on the 226 :confounded:

Cramp city

Ha, I did the 226 the final year (2017?) and the run course had changed to avoid that bit…it was also massively short, but I wasn’t complaining at the time :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

I think the grip on the NEXT% is better, but that’s not what concerned me. The tread on the ZF FK is exactly the same as the 4%, so I had no advantage/disadvantage there.

It’s the instability. The 4% is poor in that regard at the rear. And the terrain is sufficiently uneven, I would not want to run on that in 4% personally. The react foam in the ZF is better for stability. The NEXT% is far superior than the 4% in terms of rear stability, so I would think they’d be fine if you wanted to use those.

Could be over before it starts I guess after the new 6 person lockdown rules come in, hope I’m wrong

there are exemptions…hopefully, these are one of them - because my cycle club has just started club rides again

Venues are getting jittery though.

I am absolutely sure that all the law changes will be is 30 will be crossed out and 6 put in its place, that has no impact on if events can go ahead, events were not going ahead under the 30 law anyway.

I’m sure some activities were relying simply on the 30 limit, (maybe fit boot camps etc. that don’t have a body to talk to the DCMS) but organised sport - ie those with a governing body were not covered by the 30, and therefore now not covered by the 6.

Cycling clubs under BC were 6 for club rides already though, I actually wonder if they’ll change their advice to lower it or not.

The problem is as gingerbongo says, venues, people, others are more likely to get annoyed and change their rules/acceptance against the sport despite the act. BTF need to get out quickly to say what should happen, but I doubt they’ve been told anything new from the DCMS and the previous agreement remains on what is covid secure.

I imagine the backlash to the St Leger going ahead with the 16,000 people (over 3 days) might render other sports in trouble to continue.

It says the new rules doesn’t apply to ‘organised team sports’ but I cant see this positioned as a team sport!! I agree I think the issue and back lash may be more from venues and locals.
Will be a shame especially after the Aug race went well

that’s exactly what we’re chatting about. The race could be run within the law … but it’s the venues and social media that are the big risks at the moment.

More of the post but fingers crossed it gets the all clear

At least if you race you can’t possibly have worse finisher pics than @Doonhamer! So that’s a bonus.
