I’ve not trained for a tri since my first IM in 2013. I’ve done one half and a sprint or two since then, but they were off run fitness and just for a bit of fun.

I’m going to have to try to remember how to write a training plan. Does @Poet do webinar seminars on being organised?!

I’m assuming @NickBerry will be joining this thread shortly!

@sparky - when does your training properly kick in then? what fitness level are you starting from?

Speaking of which, I should be at a Microsoft conference now :rofl::rofl:

I really should think about doing this considering I live in Cirencester :joy: It might help give me half an idea what to expect rather than turn up in Lisbon in October with little idea and on the back of Half Mara and a full mara and in the two weeks preceding it!

You better dig out your armbands and get training

I enjoyed the 113 other than the weather, shame it’s so far away.

Yeah, only 30 mins away for me at 4 in the morning! :smiling_imp:

My wife is crapping on this. She prefers the Outlaw half date

Boooo @Adam

Get on it @sowler!

Just under 2.5 hours for me. I’d be perfectly happy to do it in a oner. Or I’ll kip in my car in a layby the night before. Happy with either approach!

There’s a campsite right by the lake, but not sure if it’ll be open as it was hit & miss in years gone by I think.

Swindon Travelodge was £29 for me when I did it.
Drove back after the race.
4 hours is a bit much for a oner!

2.5hrs is my limit (as that’s 4hrs on the way back, with the cramps and stopping for food and urines)

that’s a decent call actually!

It’s about 30mins to race site and there’s a B&Q and a Lidl opposite to pass some time

One of my good mates’ in laws are from up that area. And they are proper loaded. Maybe i need to get friendly with them and weasel my way a room in the west wing!

Actually … or i convince him to do another tri. Get him on the cotswold classic. He can’t resist a ā€˜lads weekend’. Then i’ve got accommodation sorted! :smiling_imp:

There is both a Premier Inn and Travel Lodge in Cirencester, saves having to visit the joys of Swindon!

Which cost a fortune in comparison.
I literally drove from home at 4pm, checked in at 8pm, went to Lidl.
Ate my ham and cheese sandwich, watched Casualty and went to sleep.

I’m not paying another Ā£30+ just to stay somewhere else and do the same thing :grimacing:

Well according to my weekly reminder there are 17 weeks to go, so training starts now!

My current base is rubbish due to lockdown laziness and a problem I am having with my breathing. So right now a z2 10k (av HR 135) for me is 48mins and I would probably do a z2 2hour bike (av HR 109) of 33 to 35 miles dependent on the hills. So there is a lot of work to do. (Excluding transitions I am hoping for 5hours)

From what I can see I think that you can get fit pretty quickly so should smash 5hrs

Happy to talk more about how I train. Though there are lots on here who are more qualified

I’d probably say it was worth spending a bit extra if the place was so bad you needed to eat your hand. That appendage would be useful for swimming and bike handling too.
