Critique my position/bike/thighs

I tend to listen to more modern stuff day to day, but for my turbo sessions i seem to find myself consistently returning to the early 00s rock/metal stuff. Some classic The Offspring and Blink 182 came up today which put a smile on my face!

Haha. Snap. Always go back to the early 00s on the turbo

I’m lazy and stick on the New Punk tracks playlist on Spotify. Rotating set of tracks perfect for the turbo.

Your ring looks a bit loose.

Fat knuckles. There’s no way that’s coming off accidentally!

C’mon, play along!

:joy:

Couldn’t think of a witty retort.

So, following swiftly on from Feb 7th post…
This is me trundling along outside my house (and then stopping very rapidly) with the 130 mm stem on (handling is fine). Bars more or less slammed. Stem flipped down. The bars and extensions are all one fixed unit so I’ve tilted them up a bit to raise my hands because flat is tough on my shoulders even with the bars higher.
Fire away.
I guarantee there is no armpit hair in this one - just leg and face.

Love the sound your brakes make at the end. Good job they work too or you’d be joining your neighbours across the road for cucumber sandwiches.

Both yours and GBs look good to me. Not the most forward/ aggressive but stable and quite low and narrow. What distance is thus for?

I think you look quite stretched.

If it was my position I’d be looking to shorten that stem

I was going to say the same. But I’m not an expert in this field so thought I’d leave it to the pros.

I am by no means an expert!!

Yes, can see what you mean. I had a shorter stem on before but felt really bunched up. I didn’t have much space to settle on the bars in the video and think I was quite far forward on the pads, perhaps. Might also sit a bit further forward on the saddle when properly settled.
This is from last summer with a 110 mm stem (so 20 mm shorter). Also had one spacer under the bars and might have not had stem inverted either so not a great comparison. Possibly I should try shorter stem but slammed and inverted. I’m pretty sure I was too high at the front in this photo.

Obviously another pinning blunder!

I didn’t post the video where I stopped but didn’t quite unclip…
Kind of 10 miles to 90 km…

Ok here is my position so would like some views on it.

Only thing I can see is all your weight looks to almost be on your actual elbow joint, not the forearm at all. Does that not get sore, or is it the angle of the pic?

It might be the 2 part cup which has a hidden wedge.

Looks pretty good to me, there’s not even a patio or bin to criticise.

There may be helmets which fit your position better. Changing the extensions to straighter ones with an angled wedge may be more aero. Would need to test to improve from there. Basically nit picking.

A-

A for the position
Minus for the socks

What’s it like having the aero bars pointing up? Does it still feel stable?

I find the position stable and I can steer with the elbows quite comfortably

here is a pic from the weekend the angle is quite deceptive regarding the position of the hands as the head is up as there was traffic just ahead of me

Definitely - give that old stem a try and flip it down.

@leahnp you’re looking pretty dialled in there I’d say :ok_hand:t2:
