Hooks Carbon X3 - are these great shoes?

Seen some £72-82 on Sigmasports and Sportsshoes

Assuming hooks = hoka, then I have been using a pair of these as my main running shoe for the last 6 months. They are OK, I certainly paid a lot more than that maybe £120 or £130. Have been very durable. Personally I’m finding them a little roomy, bought size UK10/EUR 44.5 but have a hunch EUR 44 or 43.5 might have been better.

They are nothing like as bouncy as alpha / vaporfly

Im getting the impression they’re more competing with Pegasus than VF for sure

It’s a shame we can’t see a simple % list of performance benefit ranges per shoe, but that would undermine the marketing machines.

Love mine, but as training shoe. Bought because needed something with the rocker to offload shins after my injury and got a deal to make them same as the Hoka Clifton I planned.

I feel noticeably faster in Peg 37s, nevermind VF.

I had a pop up ad come up for this site when I was looking for switching deals on my phone. It ‘seems’ pretty good but I’m sure there’s a ‘gotcha’ somewhere?

https://www.shopmium.com/uk

It’s a receipt app, nothing negative I’ve heard, but don’t use it, normal privacy questions over a receipt app and all your supermarket spending. They have a referral all the time for pringles or similar most of the time, I believe much of the saving only comes if you align with what they want you to buy, ie they’ll give you the money back on a tin of whiskas if you buy them.

Reddit is the easiest place to keep on top of this sort of thing.

Ah ok, cheers Jim. Mrs FP buys a lot of rice and I see Tilda on there and we tend to have roast chicken on Fridays and she’s taken to the Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Puddings (I’m not a huge fan).

Will have a better look at it. :+1:

Found out my health insurer has discount on Garmin stuff. 255 Music for £262. Maybe in a few months they will provide discount on the newer stuff :crossed_fingers: Sadly no Edge Explore 2 on there either.

Those corporate discount options do take about 3-6 months to get the product onto them. It took a while for the 255 to appear but then it was quite well discounted.

Yeah good point, I’ll look into that at my end too.

Does anyone do those deals where if you workout a lot your premiums drop, but on a corporate PMI?

Just spotted this

BTF hoodies @£27 delivered

I need some 25-28mm tubeless road bike summer tyres - any deals going anywhere???

Not buying Corsa Speed.
I sold mine for what I paid for them, having been too scared to ever ride them outside :face_with_peeking_eye:

Why too scared?

Paper thin, so the predilection to punctures is preposterously positive :chart_with_upwards_trend::boom:

Rock hard to get on, so scared of getting them off to put a tube in at the roadside.

Edited above post :+1:t3:
I did put one of them on. And cut my knuckle mangling the thing :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I thought it might be that, I’ve had mine on since August '22 (no riding in the winter). Lady luck on my side so far! What about some Turbo Cottons at £35 - they’re easy to put on Specialized Turbo Cotton LTD 700c Road Tyre - Black

Good spot, I like the tan walls for an extra £5
