Good sense?
Mixed feelings for me as well, I was enjoying doing a bit of structured running and some reps even though I’d have been miles off decent form. But wasn’t sure about getting long runs in, or injuries flaring up on the day.
I have got two 15 mile trail races coming up, one has been put back to 20th December and the other is New Years Day, so fairly close together. Got enough in the tank to get round.
But could still do with a marathon at some point to try and get a London GFA.
Got my email about a refund, should appear on my CC within 10 days. Only losing £2 so quite good.
Yeah I got the same.
Yep me too. I’ll let you all know if it turns up
My refund is back on my credit card.
ooh I’ll have to check, thanks
You might not get a very good view of the race now that it no longer goes through Famara
(you might just about be able to see the turnaround point of the out-and-back section)
I kind of meant on different days😀
Anyone heard any news of what’s happening with 2021 race?
Edit just realised this is Dorney thread sorry
I woke up in the middle of the night with the crazy idea to go out and run a not-Dorney marathon. Completely unscripted. Scrabbled around for running gear trying not to wake the house up, had a coffee, and out.
Decided on the hoof to run laps of a flat streetlit 2.5km stretch of road through the centre of my sleepy little town.
All was going fine until 25km when nature called, I popped back into my house to use the loo. The cat started clamouring to be fed. This never happens to Mo Farah.
Back on the road, lap 6 starting to feel hard. Lap 7 starting to feel really hard. And then… at 32km… uh oh… sudden ambush chunder. From nowhere. This happened on my last long run too.
I felt pretty grim after that, and reasoned that as there are no finisher medals today I may as well call it a day, have a shower, and creep back into bed and see if anyone missed me.
So there’s the bar, it’s 6.30 am and I just ran 32km, anyone going to trump that this weekend and run the whole distance? Better luck if you do
I wondered what on earth was going on with that run. That explanation makes sense.
Fair play, I do love a bat sh!t crazy idea, totally off the hoof. Love it.
Maybe do the last ten at midnight tonight
Fair play, good effort. I did think about it a week or so ago but the reality is, once it got canned I backed right off with the distance anyway.
Apparently woke my wife up twice, I’m in the doghouse and “not normal”
Brilliant work Nick, I wondered what that was about
Shame about the stomach problems, did you eat anything?
Rest assured I won’t be doing anything as daft
Bowl of muesli and a coffee before starting, that seemed to stay down.
About 500mls of orange squash at 20km and some fruit pastilles at 25km, those boys came right back up
Tell her it’s the new normal
Weird thing happened this morning, I woke up about 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep, but I had absolutely no desire to go out and run 5k let alone a marathon
I’m actually pretty glad it wasn’t on now. i had very little sleep with some back and hip pain. It subsided after some Ibuprofen but would have made for more angst.
Yes, I’d have been completely broken if I’d kept training and probably had a DN*
