Similar here, although I’ve often done a hard hour on the bike Tuesday mornings and a hard group run in the evening. Commute/Swim the next day was what I though of as easy.
Cheers, plan updated.
Triple run days, who knew?
but he didn’t have to commute to work the next day…
that would suggest that either the calculation is inaccurate, the number/duration of reps is insufficient and/or the recovery interval is inappropriate or that you are very inefficient….
Trainerroad isn’t it, relatively short reps, generally <20min, sometimes 8-10 minutes with very long recovery intervals, 5-15 minutes ![]()
PS I’m joking…
but what SST sessions,
3x 8 minutes r 8-minutes
or
3x 40-minutes r 3-minutes
Where in the spectrum?
Well, yes but also my perception of “hard” is influenced by the +25kg insulation suit I have on whenever I run
And that as a primarily indoor cyclist I’ve done more sweet spot sessions than most.
Threshold is Hard for everyone though, I suspect/assume.
short reps?
short period?
the terminology needs to be clear…the Rep is the working bit…the Interval is the recovery…
Yes.
I have corrected it, that really annoys me, and I did it myself, interval for rep, the shame of it. I need an interval, long recovery. lol
Give me a break just back from a 30km long run.
Give me a break just back from a 30km long run
i hope it was back to back, hard???
Nah. An easy day leading into it.
Last week. Two days of double hard and a hard (moderate long run last Saturday.)
Harder than normal to recover from, picked up the daugthers cold, might lose my job stress, and dental work.
So an eaiser week than would have normally been planned week.
Anyway…
30s per km slower than last week for 24km, (it was meant to be fast/hard last week, last week was pushing it) this week the difficulty came from more duration at what is an easy pace for 20-24km, the body getting beaten up and weather, wind picking up and the mental fatigue and all that brings.
But it does raise a point I was going to make a week ago in this thread… there are very different versions of hard.
- Intensity,
- duration,
- density or work,
- psychology (stress)
- mechanical (stress)
Etc.
yep…
Just added shared personal information, context, because context and what you can and cant do… depends, as you know.
there are very different versions of hard.
Agreed
There’s a really good interview with Öyvind Sandbakk on The Real Science of Sport podcast that covers the whole double threshold stuff. Well worth a listen.
Is it the Wednesday one?
Yeah, from Wednesday 15/04
Got it on now. Thanks
