That’s great news, loved my Sub3, still have frameset in my loft for a future retro build.

On the streamlining, I’ve always thought they had way too many models on offer. There website has over 30 different bikes, which must be incredibly costly to keep stock of and provide spares, etc.

Looks like the brands have been sold off and the staff dumped.

Sports direct?

My “industry insider” reckoned that Mike Ashley was only interested in the IP, so that would fit with them buying the business :man_shrugging:

Thats what sports direct ultimatley is, a jumble sale of old brands that have been bought up and sold from there. So thats what will happen with the DHB stuff and others.

and Ashley will sell the branded products on as if they are still state of the art kit but in reality they are cheap versions. Karrimor anyone?

Ah that’s poor, I would rather it shut down than go to that wanker.

My local shop will get my trade going forward.

I feel quite sad about it. Wiggle was my go to for years and years. Rarely brought from elsewhere.

The website changes were bewildering. Losing all your order history and no longer having wish lists.

I’ve still got DHB kit 10+ years old that I use for regular commute. Tis a shame.

Sounds like they’ve bought the domain name and CRM database.

Haven’t used them for a while and unlikely to in future.

On the plus side, my stash of Prime hub spares just doubled in value.

It’s a very sad end for what was a great company. I’m afraid since the merger with CRC I used them less and less. I still have my Vitus TT bike - underused but sadly now associated with a complete con artist.

That and the fact that the website was already pretty decent. There just didn’t seem to me to be any need to ‘upgrade’ it.

Are DHB, Prime etc actually Wiggle brands or is it just Wiggle have the rights to sell them in the UK?

Trouble is, there is no business model in kit that lasts. Like my Ron Hill tracksters from the 90s, not many repeat sales happening.

DHB is a Wiggle owned brand I believe.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that their “own brand” stuff is made in China, so designed in the UK but manufactured by 3rd party factories overseas.

Same as most other apparel makers then!

Fair point, but it probably means that DHB won’t continue in its current form unless the people currently responsible for DHB within the Wiggle organisation buy out that bit of the business and try to go it alone :man_shrugging:
