There was a time that doing a non-sanctioned event got you banned…now it wins an award…

I am behind in my reporting.

A successful team made it to Paris last week and before I’d time to collect my thoughts, we were called forward early for Brutal Claire.

Although she has a number of ultra successes behind her, the channel has been a big hurdle. But here she is again, departing London at 21:02 Saturday evening for the run down to Dover.

All went well through the night but a nagging Achilles made running difficult and the heat turned it into a tortuous walk. The last 10 hours were pretty grim and for safety, I ran walked with her.

But we are here waiting for the boat with great conditions for a solid swim to Calais.

You still waiting Jon?

nope…been and gone…Claire felt unwell 10k into the swim and sadly we had to pull her…

That’s a shame :frowning:

Doing the first leg in the heat that we’ve had down here must have been physically hard

yep…i think after about 15 hours she was suffering from heat stroke and probably hadn’t recovered by the swim…

Hello, been a while since I have been on here as I’ve been unfocused on anything specific for a while. Anyway, I registered my interest to have another attempt at Arch 2 Arc in 2027 - here’s hoping I can get a slot as I’d love to do this for my 50th birthday. Looking forward to getting back into it. Tons of stuff I can do better this time around

the videos I see, it looked quite choppy as well; Was the time in T1 because of the poor conditions, or a planned extra long break? I’m assuming at 12hrs he got a bit “lucky” (maybe not the correct word) with tides a beat the final turn that would have added hours on.

It was almost a perfect day…

time in T1 was in part starting 20 mins early, but also running faster than planned…

he was given a hurry up with an hour or so to go to save another 2 or 3 hours…
