Yes, just got back from Utah….
I mean Paris….yep, the girl done very well. A really hard swim - the last 90 mins turned in to 6 hours.

Do you think A2A is becoming more popular over recent years?
When I saw the swim track change I was concerned. Aiming at the shore but going sideways for hours must be really tough. Well done to her.
Yes, certainly. But it did just start with one guy and then his mates. We are constrained by the allocation of swim slots and have less next year.
There are about 200 people on the waiting list but the success rate is higher now we offer coaching
edit to add that filtering out the romanticists from the 200 is a challenge….this is a tough gig
The pilot knew from the turn before that she wouldnt reach the Cap. When she made the final turn you can see that she is initially heading back to Dover and I gave her the hurry up. Somehow she held that extra effort for some hours
Wet suit or non wetsuit?
I’m guessing must have been wetsuit looking at her lean build, otherwise would have got too cold?
(Incredible achievement whatever swimwear, I’m just interested in the physiology)
I really don’t understand how the tides work, apart from the side to side bit, do they actually push you back as well at certain points? I know you have to time the final turn right or it will add hours (like in this case) I remember Swimsmooth Paul talking about his swim back in 2012 or so, when he had to really push on or get caught in a tide which would have added 6hrs onto his 12hr or so eventual finish.
Wetsuit. She’s swum the channel non wetsuit before but lost 10kg since then. The post run fatigue also makes staying warm a big challenge…
The flood tide is southwest to north east and ebb the opposite although there are local currents too. The swimmer is facing Calais but the tide is pushing them sideways. In Lyndseys case, a strong offshore wind limited her forward progression whilst the tide pushed her east
Reka Udvardy on the start line at Marble Arch five years after being stopped by Covid travel restrictions.
I love how glamorous you’ve made Marble Arch look!

Good luck!
It must be close to the end of the season for Channel swimming? I guess the water temperature takes longer to cool down, but the air temperature has definitely dropped
Yep. It’s gonna be chilly for Reka tonight.
Two swimmers out tonight. A relay tomoz. Another on Monday. Plus another one to go within a week or two
Well, tonight demonstrated exactly how unglamorous it really is…
I had to pull Reka from the swim after 3 hours with her being sick and delirious
Wow, bet he was glad when that swim was over, very impressive to get through that ![]()
Not the best swimmer but very gutsy. Perfect conditions.
20hrs swimming, my lord…
Anyone else would have done it in 12
What kinda pace does he swim in training/pool?
