Enter the Ninja - Funkster goes for two GWRs

Sorry to hear that @funkster. At least you live to fight another day!

Goodwood in December should have a half marathon too

I’m pretty sure when we did it last year the temp was in minus to start

Felt like minus every time we went down that bloody back straight!

That wind :snowflake:

Already entered Dorney :+1:t2:

don’t know if this is legal or a dumb idea: cut lots of slits into your costume to get some air in - maybe wouldn’t make much difference

We were talking about you and the heat today at Brighton, sorry that you didn’t get the result you were after but it was a tough day. Well done for the performance though.

Possibly under arms, but not sure if it contravenes the rules

Not gonna lie.

Woke up this morning feeling more than a little depressed

You were mins / seconds off a World record, frustrating, but a great effort, nothing to feel down about.

Onward our Ninja!!!

Nothing to be depressed about, you gave it everything and you have another chance. :+1:

It’s Dorney Lake - it’s always windy.

Not yesterday, wind was completely dead.

Ah mate, it happens. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. At the end of the day, it’s all a bit of fun. And you have both the fitness and opportunity to try again. You’re fit and healthy, and not injured!

Have your big mope (i always do after a bad result - i’m a right miserable git for 24 hours or so) for a day, then reassess, realign and fire back into things! :+1:t4:

Yeah, what GB said :facepunch:t2:

World records aren’t supposed to be easy. I would look at this as a learning event, you were certainly close enough to know that it is achievable.

Loads of positives to take away, and your journey will keep us entertained for a little longer

Couldn’t have said it better than @gingerbongo.

If it was easy, you wouldn’t be doing it.

Learn the lessons. Readjust. Go again.

I go away for a bit and come back to find someone is trying to set a world record as a running ninja.

  Love it.

P.s. has anyone suggested a camelback under the costume for liquids (and maybe cooling effect - or load a vest with ice that will melt so lose the weight over time)

So we’re just over a week away now.

Not feeling confident in the slightest.
Both in my ability to run 26.2 miles and to run it in a ninja outfit.

Possibly as a side effect of the half marathon, I’ve developed a reasonably painful knot in my right calf and a niggle in my left gluet
Neither are at the point where I can’t run, but both need attention.

Last week I took the day off after the HM and then ran 5 times for a total of 50 miles, with a 13 miler on the Sunday.

This week is just 10kms, with Monday and Saturday off and then an hour on Sunday to make about 32 miles.
Also shifting them to the evening to prioritise sleep, so I can get about 91/2-10 hours a night

Next week will just be 5kms with probably a couple of complete days off.

Weather forecast is looking ok, with the temp dropping next week.

This came through yesterday
