I binned my 4%s a few weeks ago. I’d love another pair of those. They were battered.
Pretty sure I had some issued back in the day.
I think I preferred my pusser’s daps…
Who had a dap bag that their Mum made out of an old floral sheet?

Now I’m beginning to understand…

Don’t 'spose them youngens even know what a dap bag is/was? ![]()
They were plimies in my primary school
![]()
Everyone wore the same unbranded plimsolls.
Did mothers get given instructions for making the bags, or did women of that generation just know?

I think they just ‘knew’ ![]()
Any idea how many ks you got out of them? I’m still using my original pair on occasion too, and they still feel sprightly. I’m pretty good at logging shoes on strava, and have >1350 out of them.
I’m using a far less used pair more generally at the moment.
However, I do have a new pair in a box I think!
In contrast to the above, I used my original NEXT% (the ones I pbd at Malaga in) last weekend for a random parkrun. It turned out the course had a chunk on soggy grass. The foam completely deteriorated and melted away
They had <300km on them and were otherwise in great condition
Not great actually - 564kms. They’d been relagated to parkruns for a while now so not helped them in that regard.
I must be a massive heel striker as all my vaporfly iterations have heavy wear on the rear of the shoe.
So you get to the top of the alpine pass after an hour of climbing. Your jersey is soaked in sweat from the effort of the climb, but there’s a chill in the air.
You know it’s going to be cold on the long descent. You look around for a spare copy of L’Equipe to stick up your jersey to keep the chill off your chest, but there’s nothing to be seen.
Fear not - Rapha has you covered with their new bascule.
Cheap at half the price for £50

There’s one born every minute. No wonder they’re struggling.
TBF, that’s not a bad idea. For about £5.
What’s wrong with a pertex gilet? You could even make it thicker on the front and parasilk on the back/sides. I’m in the wrong job.
ETA - I have this Sportful gilet; windstopper front, fits in a jersey pocket, lycra form fitting. Why wouldn’t you?!
Or become a BTF TO and get one of their latest gilet offerings - is more windproof than a plastic bag and is “boil in the bag” on a sunny day.
That’s not a newspaper!
Yeah, I wouldn’t go riding in the mountains at any time of the year without a lightweight gilet and/or a packable rain jacket for the descents.
If only there was a company that sold such garments

I think if any of these things get sold they will be Christmas presents for the MAMIL who has everything and is maybe signed up for the Etape ![]()
now, if only it had the title page printed on it they would sell like copies of L’Equipe…
