Pocket space for 1 gel apparently. Excuse being that pros take all their nutrition in hand-ups and don’t need to carry.
Zone3 have an aero-force suit and an aeroflow suit, don’t know what the relative aero claims are, but they are sub-£200 new and usually have a big Black Friday sale.
Agree the Anemoi pocket is too small, but surely you’d only want pockets to stash stuff just after you’ve grabbed it, like banana pieces which is my norm. If you’re carrying nutrition from the off, then you’d have it in a bento surely? Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t touch a suit without at least one decent sized pocket, as it will get used in longer distances at some point.
This is the suit a want but its £300,it has good pocket options including ones on the legs ,it has an ice pocket in the neck and I like the full opening front zip
Nopinz are revamping the material, due early December I think, presumably that’s why it’s absent from the website (I was looking the other day, as a colleague who did a lot of windtunnel setup has one of their made to measure ones from earlier this year)
I thought that was the one’s with cups at the back as well as the sides?
High sided ones come in 0 degrees, and just give you something more solid to rest against for apparent comfort. So rather than having to squeeze your elbows in with your muscles, you can just relax them and let the arm rest walls hold your elbows in the same place. In my head, that would seem much more comfortable over a long TT/IM?
The only thing I can find online really discussing them is this thread on TTF, but I’m guessing that’s TTers talking about forcing their elbows so narrow that it gets you super aero but is hugely uncomfortable. My arm arms rests are from the Felt Bayonet system, and have a slight rise up on the outer edge. I certainly find myself using that as it is, which is why I imagined higher ones would enable me to relax even more into the higher sides.
The revolver ones always seem to be well reviewed, both the mantis ones and the normal high sided ones. They are pre-drilled with a number of holes, a lot of them you need to do your own drilling which would put me off.
The thing that appeals to me about the aerocoach ones are that the padding on the new version above goes up the sides. The one’s you linked to would have the outer part of your elbow directly up against the carbon fibre. More streamline, but likely a lot less comfortable.
Ultimately, I was hoping some of our long TTers may have first hand experience, but maybe not.
Yeah, not cheap. But if it means holding aero for longer, more easily, then that’s actually a potential time saving over having to break position for comfort purposes.
It’s at times like these when I have very little else consuming my money that I thought I might as well investigate some options. These would likely be a one time purchase and then transferable between any future bikes.
I have them, drilling is easy and better for me as I have limited movement in my left shoulder so Having one pad slightly turned out works for me. It also means you could have them set way back if the holes are drilled to the front of the cups
Cool. Thanks for the feedback on drilling. The other things with the wattshop ones is that they’re sold out! Presuming they come with the padding, even though not actually shown on the images?
How do you find the high sided arm rests in general? Do some of my perceptions of the benefits in terms of comfort align with the reality of using them?
From memory they come with the pads, the closed cell foam is really comfy and so the elbow does not slip about when wet with rain or sweat.
Support wise I can really lean and press into the pad into it when turtling, the high side keeps the elbow locked in
