I’ve had a problem with my 735XT this week but after a lot of fannying about it’s now uploading. It may have been rectified after I did a “Force Stop” & cleared the cache in the Connect App.
I think I’d be buying a 255 if my 735XT died. As you say it does everything we need.
Don’t actually know anybody 1st hand that has a Coros, so can’t comment.
I’ve got the 245 which i think is a fantastic watch for the money, so i’d imagine the 255 would be similarly good VFM.
Other than that, i’m a bit behind on the multisport watches - watch for running and edge for cycling.
Speaking of 735XTs, has anyone had an issue where the screen has seemingly randomly started going?
I have a big spot right in the middle of the screen that looks like the sun, its only about 5mm wide but it seems to block almost everything I need to see.
Is it worth contacting customer service for a repair? It’s done well for the last 4 years and still has plenty of life left in it apart from that so don’t want to replace it if I can avoid it.
Its worth giving them a message, Garmin seem pretty good about repairing stuff. You might get a flat no but its a pretty easy process through their online chat thing.
It’s probably not worth repairing if the screen has actually gone but they’ll likely do you a refurbed one for £70 or so. That’s what happened with mine when it started playing up and none of the fixes they got me to do worked.
Has Garmin been hacked again? Garmin Connect down all morning
Yep all buggered by the looks of it.
Garmin payed $10m last time it was hacked in 2020… I hope this is just a server upgrade gonw wrong and not a hack. If it is a hack, someone at Garmin really needs to take cyber security more seriously
If only there were some who understood cybersecurity and activity data willing to work for £££££s eh? ![]()
No it’s the logistics they like to interfere with.
If only (blah blah) who had worked with the largest logistics, airline and transport operations, and interfaced with Garmin APIs. ![]()
Never get past the big four consultancies though. They only leave the scraps for freelancers.
Happily though my watch and Garmin died, I have almost all my race data.
Seems to be back up now
Was it them or Strava who went down half way through the finishers got through the ride London?
Was there some mass participaition event somewhere this weekend? Might explain why it went down for a while but you’d have thought the biggest 2 sports upload companies may have been able to handle a lot of uploads at the same time.
My 945 has got scratches on the OHR but just on the part where the sensors are, and they’ve got quite rough to the point that they’re scratching and actually causing problems with the skin underneath. I can’t wear it all day atm.
I couldn’t work out how I could have only damaged 3 small areas and not the rest!
Anyway, finally googled it last night and seems to be a common flaw with watches around that time
I’m going to get in touch with support. Mine was one of the first batches.
In case anyone else has the same problem.
I had a similar problem with my 935. Garmin were pretty good and agreed to replace it. In my case they said certain chemicals (suncream being one) could cause the resin covering the sensor to crack. Not sure if that was true or just an excuse. They also said later batches now used a different resin so it should no longer be an issue.
For reference this is the photo I sent Garmin…
My 735 did that.
It also caused irritation to the skin after prolonged wearing, which is something the Fenix hasn’t done so far
Im in hell, or maybe that needs a minus sign. Seriously my 910xt used to shit the bed and give stupid altitude figures, why do they still not work properly generations later
Garmin FTP auto detection…
It’s stayed at 265 for over a year, not a flicker, then this morning I finished a workout and it cut it down to 238. What gives?
My recollection is it will only compute something if certain criteria are met within the activity file. It definitely needs power and HR data, but I think there’s a need for certain types of efforts and durations. So maybe today’s ride was the first time all the requirements were met?
Separately, I did log into TR today and see they’ve added auto FTP detections based on all the workouts in your recent calendar. Shame I’ve done something like 3 rides since Wales, so have no data for it to meaningfully use! Will be interesting to see if people thinks it’s any good. Probably just a similar concept to the intervals.icu estimate. If the two are in line, then they’re probably a good guide
Yes, the TR FTP detection is reliable and leading edge.
But I treat the two ecosystems as isolated, so whilst my FTP has fluctuated through the seasons with TR it didn’t move at all with Garmin.
I may do a Garmin FTP test workout, I was planning to test in December anyway, as well as CSS and a 5k.
My ancient but reliable (so far) 920XT needs a new strap. Snapped at one of the ‘adjustment holes’ again, think this is my 6th strap.
Is it finally time to move on to a 955, or keep paying £15 every year for a new strap until it’s completely dead.
Longest race would be middle distance, so current battery life isn’t much of an issue and only race a few times a year (covid zero years excluded), so mostly for training.
