Yeah, I was looking at re-sale value and they’re going for about 150, good thinking
I’m generally recharging it every other day, although I did switch off WiFi after the earlier post.
Fairly sure it lasted nearly 4 days once but I could be wrong and I think the software updates and functionality are probably draining it a bit.
Sodding Garmin still don’t have the proprietary sized spring bars for fenix in stock.
And nobody else makes them.
The standard sized quick release strap I’ve got in there falls off everyday now.
Garmin don’t sell anything else that has bars that come with.
Cant believe my £500 watch is fucked over £1.80 bits of metal.
I sent my 945 and now the 965 is on the website Garmin Forerunner® 965 | Premium Running Watch
I don’t think I need/want the new extras: I’d be turning the touchscreen off, new screen will impact battery life. Yet I’m still lusting over it
DCR has just posted a review of the 965!
Take my money, bitches
oh ffs Garmin Forerunner 965 In-Depth Review: Finally AMOLED! - YouTube
I might keep my eye out for a discounted 955 and sell my 945 - maybe get a little back from the £130 I’ve had to cough up…
I think you need the colour one, think how much faster you’d be
You are right It feels strange swimming without a watch on my arm at the moment!
3g heavier, that’s not acceptable to a weight weenie!
265 also released.
Trust me, that’s not going to make a difference for me
Anyway, just do the bank switching hacks from the other thread and it’ll be almost free
Shipping in 3-5 weeks though!!
And £120 more than the 955 was.
I’ve been waiting for this for ages but have picked up an Apple watch and am not sure that I would use a Garmin now.
I’m not a big data whore, the Apple records my swim splits and runs accurately enough, and HR with a chest strap. I use a dedicated head unit on the bike. I don’t use a computer to take me through planned workouts.
I only really need something for the run during a race.
Some serious man maths required to justify one of these.
I was really disappointed with my Apple Watch 6, swimming was erratic and running.
Wouldn’t go near one as a sports watch and it’s been sat devaluing for about 18 months
My 935 is definitely a better multisports device for sure, but the barometer is broken now so every run is flat.
I have said it before but its worth repeating, Garmin need to stop fucking about with touchscreens and training metrics and sort the sodding baros out. Every Garmin I have had the baro has shit the bed. My Fenix 5 gives me a storm warning everytime I cycle on Zwift or go down a big hill in the car. Other day I was sat at my desk and the altitude was 800m!
I’m edging towards an Apple Watch 8, just got the Mrs one and letting her test the sports features before I decide. Seems to be good so far and even a large size series 8 is the same price as the Garmin 265 now, so Garmin needs to have some serious functionality to sway the balance.
I went for an AW Ultra from a 955 and would find it hard to go back now. The Garmin is definitely the better sports watch and is just generally better thought out for things like intervals (count down beeper, louder etc) but for the 95% of usage there’s not competition. the User expereince is much more fluid, less bugs, better control and integration with everything else (iphone anyway) and the most significant thing for me is the cellular integration allowing contact without a phone.
For navigating again the Garmin does a slightly better job but the apple watch does a good enough job with easy route and the workout apps running concurrently. I also like creating the WO’s on my watch as opposed to relying on GC for more complex intervals which is nice.
This is from a running point of few, it might be different if I did more swimming cycling etc?
Charging is the biggest downside, I probably charge 5 times a week (always wear overnight) where as Garmin it was 1-2 per week.
Anyone using multiple Garmin devices with a forerunner 45?
“ Collecting Data from Devices that Aren’t Compatible
Even if one of your devices doesn’t support this update, the activities you record on it will be sent to your compatible devices* through Garmin Connect, so your VO2 max, training status and training load numbers stay up to date.”
Which tells me I can get training load from a 45…but doesn’t seem to happen.
