Garmin questions

I think the 265 has the significantly better screen, given your advancing age it might be worth considering how your eyesight is :grimacing:

If you know anyone with a 965 you can get an idea of how good it is.

Edit: on a dark morning when it’s out of night mode my retinas get burned with the brightness :joy:

I’ve a 255. It’s a nice little watch and does everything a triafleet could want. Garmin emailed me in the last few days to say they’ve pushed a load of updates but I wasn’t interested enough to read it.

You can get a Blue Light card no? Says up to 40% discount on some watches.

You can’t cherry pick features unfortunately but I’d still get the latest you can, Epix 2 would be a good choice.

Looks like a forerunner update may have gone badly wrong, I would consider turning off any sync’s for the timebeing.

Think I’d still rather have a crashing Garmin than a half-functional Wahoo Elemnt Bolt

Im also stuck in the boot loop on the 255. Have had to dig out my old 735xt to record my run later.

Hope it works🤞

Stood at the start line and blue triangle of death was all I could see. Manually booted it but not sure it will work when I try a session again

Did a hard reset in the end.

Lost everything so if you haven’t clicked on the GPS trigger yet, make sure you perform a backup of the watch first to save having to go through the whole process again.

The good news is that upon rebooting it records as normal.

Any idea - how would I turn off the automatic updates without triggering an update?

If it was just an ephemeris file which the forums seem to be saying, then I don’t think you can them off at all, just not connect the phone / open the app to do a sync of any sort. You may already have it… The reddit thread has the routes to remove the ephemeris before triggering the bug.

DC Rainmaker gives the ways to solve it.

The ephemeris has been updated too, so a new sync would be fine, in fact you probably should in case you had a bad one in between.

Smells similar to the crowdstrike meltdown last year :joy: wonder if they’ll add some checks into the code

I synced watch about 2 hours, haven’t noticed any issues

Synced 5 things today, wouldn’t have known there was a problem apart from reading this thread.
