Choo Choo.
(No log pile avalible on today’s route.)
I see Ali Brownlee & Alex Dowsett are in your category at The Gralloch @Sowler
.
Ruth Astle also on start list.
I think I might need to adjust my ambitions of where I might finish, to just actually finishing ![]()
What are peoples tyre choice thoughts for the Gralloch? My options are 38mm Pathfinders or 47 Terravail Rutlands. I currently a bit torn between the two.
You’re being very specific by just asking me here ![]()
I’d go with 45mm Pirelli Cinturato M (because that’s what I have)
If I were doing it I’d be riding 42mm Gravel Kings because they’re wide enough, they’re on, and they seem ok in the granite sand/grit/gravel of Aberdeenshire.
What’s the gravel in the Gralloch?
I rode some of the trails a few weeks back. Some of the forestry roads were quite well packed but equally there were some new ones that were still quite marbley…is that even a word
?
On the rear I’ve got a 35mm Schwalbe G-One that bloats to 38mm on my rims. Not ideal as it burps a bit, but that’s as wide as my frame allows.
On the front I’ve got a bit more room & have a 42mm GK .
Decisive as ever chaps
I’ll stick both wheel sets in the van and push the decision down the gravel track…
Decided to RTFM, parking is a little pricey…not compared to MAAP cargo bib shorts, but still
.
£11.50 all weekend is cheap!
£19.50 to park at Liverpool One for nine hours ![]()
Hey look if I’m gonna spend up to 18 hours a day in them for 2 weeks…
They’ve pulled that parking situ out late. I swear I looked it up and it just said there was parking, nothing about needing to pre book. Think I’ll take the Saturday option and ride down there on Friday afternoon from our campsite which is 20km away to collect race packs. Thanks for bringing it up!
Also it doesn’t say anything about not allowing overnight parking… ![]()
I took my gravel bike on what clearly is a XC MTB loop today. 5% of it would have been a blast on a full sus. I feel a bit broken now from the concentration and vibrations. And I had to push my bike over the shoulder of Mt Keen (a munro). And it rained for a hour. Heat wave my arse. Knackered (curry ordered!) ![]()
Looks decent enough to me ![]()
Weak Northerners ![]()
Bit of a trek for most of you but just in case, although from what I can see there’s plenty of road sections.
Think my mini adventure is off ![]()
COVID restrictions?
Hang on. COVID IS OVER.
Nah, just massively unfit.
And 700km in four days might be the death of me ![]()

Can’t you just shorten it?
Not a whole lot of gravel, but this looks a great route…it does go past my old primary school & parent’s front door so I may be biased
.
The biggest problem would be getting transport to the start & finishes…damn that Beeching & his axe.
