Headphones

Sorry to hear that, I was one of the guys recommending them I think. I’m still enjoying mine.

Joex no probs :+1:

No, you’re right. I bought these as the right earbud of 65t’s died after 2+ years of constant abuse, and the 75t’s are nowhere near as good.

They have a worse fit, not as good audio and are less intuitive in terms of controls. I wish I’d got another pair of 65t’s for much less money

I bought my daughter the Samsung buds 2 with the offer linked on here and they’re really good. I admit I have a low bar as a pair MPow buds is the best I have used. The offer seems legit, just waiting for Samsung to send my money.

Me too. The 75t’s are the only ones that will stay in my ears.

I have aftershockz (bone conducting) and really like them - depends if you want to zone out from the outside world - I don’t , I quite like running having a chat but with background music so for me they really work . Also use them for cycling where I feel I can cycle relatively safely whilst keeping my ear out for cars overtaking etc . Sound quality isn’t as good as standard ear phones at the same price but overall I’ve been really pleased with them .

I get asked quite a lot about them when people notice them on my head, people saying they’ve heard bad reviews about the quality.

I don’t think they’re any worse than normal headphones, eg what we accepted 10 years ago (although yes admittedly they’re cheaper).
I’m sure they’re poor compared to modern proper ones at >£100, but I think they’re easily good enough quality for casual listeners for their benefits.
I only have the cheapest model too.

Agreed. I’ve got a pair of the cheapest ones & have started listening to podcasts occasionally on my long runs. Sound quality may not be the greatest, but certainly good enough & you get to hear the birdsong.

My £400 Samsung cashback came through in the end.

Have found the Buds2 to be slightly better sound quality than cheaper pairs, but nothing amazing. Noise cancelling and ambient modes are both really good though.
The app is good on Win10 and Android. A bit stupid that you can’t get it on IOS, so they connect fine with iPhones, but you can’t do some of the setup things.
Main thing is I have found them to be really comfortable so I can sleep whilst wearing them, even when on my side…

The active noise cancelling is really good, well either that or our daughter is really good at pretending not to hear us.

The left one is now making a really low level whistling noise so will send them back for a replacement pair.

Maybe for the covid thread…

I think it would pair really well with an aero helmet

If they can be retro fitted with some kind of Bane voice changer then I am in.

Those with in-ear headphones with hearthrough modes, such as the Jabras from @stenard @joex etc, would you ever consider cycling with them (if you trusted the fit) or do they still obscure too much traffic noise?

I’m probably going to buy those Shokz on discount, which I’ve had before, but looking at Jabra 8, along with the Suunto sonic and Sony Linkbuds which are closer to the shokz in terms of open ear.

Personally, no. The hear-through is artificial sounding to me. It overdoes certain noises. It’s fine to pay for something in a shop and converse without taking them out, but I’ve only ever used them for running sports wise (with ANC on).

Thanks. Assume for the hear through to work you’re relying on the microphone pumping in the right combination of sounds you want to hear.

These Sony Linkbuds look interesting. Sit in-ear, but with a donut shape to allow ambient noise in. Reviews all seem to say better sound quality than Shokz, and currently on sale for half price at £75. I’ll still probably go Shokz to know they fit though.

I cycle with my Jabras quite a lot but you can’t use hear through as you just get loud wind wistle.

I just bought the OpenSwim Pro.
For £169 they’re shit.

Don’t go loud enough.
Can’t adjust the bass/treble.
Uncomfortable in the pool (don’t fit properly with a cap on)
Wobble on my head.

I’ve used “in the ear” all my life, since I was 12 when I cycled my first paper round with a Walkman, as IDGAF about hearing cars etc whilst on my bike or running or walking.

My £35 Jabra ones were better (I’d been through about four pairs of them, all replaced under warranty by John Lewis)

The reason I went with them, is that they were cheap and I’ve had loads; Bose, Sennheiser, Sony etc.

all shit.

The charging ports are utterly wank and just decay under stress with sweat. They then “unpair” and only one works or they tell you they’re 100% charged and they’re on 11% or something like that.
