I use EliteHRV but use my Tickr chest strap as it measures some of those metrics, they do also sell a finger sensor.
It takes 2:30 every morning and gives you a value between 1 & 10 and some colourings, which indicate if it’s your sympathetic or parasympathetic response that’s occurring, you can also see the drill down data.
There’s a reasonable explanation of their results here. But again, you really need to do this regularly.
FWIW, I sometimes find mine lags a bit, e.g. if I have a recovery day it can show I’m stressed the day after which I think might be the body recovering.
I generally use it as a guideline, e.g. sometimes I feel fine but it might say 5 o 6 and to train easy, but have sometimes put in a good session. But do generally use it as a guideline.
Mine has been low this week, consistently, so I’m either recovering (tapering) or fighting something which is also possible as I’ve had an odd sniffle and thought I was getting a sore throat but felt fine yesterday.
Edit: No, I don’t wish i could be doing it but I would love to come and watch but have too much family stuff going on over he weekend. Have a greate race everyone!
Right - that’s me done!
Quick 20 minute blast in full kit up and down the bypass - 237W AP, 244W NP. Felt like a piece of pie, I did my recce at 93%FTP, so probably do similar tomorrow
3km run around the block in trail shoes wasn’t much fun, was a bit wet and they’re a bit slippery on the tarmac, so had to use verges.
Just got to clean the bike (it rained!) and sort out my kit now
