Helvellyn

I don’t think anything will ever come close to Outlaw 2013 and looking at the pictures and reading the reports from Helvellyn it looks like a walk in the park

It was hotter than that :grinning:

I rode out to support that year:

135W for ~30kmh

Yesterday?
270W for ~30kmh

Therefore, yesterday was twice as hard

If we’re talking Outlaw 2019…now we’re talking, I’ll let @Adam tell you which was harder

Aquathons don’t count.

Neither do Aquabikes, which is why I’ve deferred to @Adam

If the weather is so horrific that the bike leg is cancelled, then there is something going on.

Since starting back, I’ve not had one dry race (it rained overnight for the 113, so the ground was mildly moist, to use Top Gear parlance)
In my years before, I had bad weather in one race.

A fair few people went sub-10 at Outlaw 2013, also, @Toyota_Crown did a 10:15:xx, which is about his usual time, maybe a little faster…I can’t even find you on the Outlaw 2013 results? Were you even there

No I did IM Austria that year. I just remember the melodramatics about it on the old Forum, like it was the surface of the Sun; and me thinking it’s like that, at pretty much every Continental Ironman on a good day.

as for weather divas, I recall the ‘rain storm’ at the last Sherborne IMUK. We had a shower during the bike FFS. etc.

and how much do I owe you @Poet ? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

One thing is for sure - guaranteed rain if my names on the start list

Cars were capsizing on flooded roads weren’t they for Outlaw 19?

I’ve sure had my fill of these ‘epic’ weather races!

I would like to have gone but why give you lot even bigger inferiority complexes so did the decent thing

I am ill n injured actually. Yes - I AM Human FFS. Glad I held off entering ‘in hindsight’. Would have really struggled.

How do Huub get away with producing such fragile wetsuits? Admittedly I don’t swim loads but I’ve only had two wetsuits in my entire 15 year triathlon career! And the first one I sold on when I bought my second one :joy:
