Hmm, already opened for 2024 entries, it’s on 1st September so weather could still be good.

It’s saying trihard so it could be that Rob is selling the business rather than letting someone take that race.

Anyway, if anyone is still interested it looks like it’s on

Great news. Could be tempted, although I feel like everything is tempting me atm! Are you going to do it?

I’m not sure, like the look of Duisburg 70.3 the same weekend. Need to start thinking of next year though to get the early benefits.

Hopefully that’ll be great news for the ailing domestic scene. Good for Rob that he can stay involved with them but let the organisation take over the name and they’ll have a much bigger audience to promote races.

Ripon tri is a pretty good race, got over 1000 people for the standard not that many years ago and hopefully that and the dalesman will be good. I actually thought it had been binned so might have a look at it.

That’s such great news.

Always my favourite UK event, it was what really got me into mountain running back in 2004 when it first started.

I remember the bike descent into Patterdale from the col being super scary as my bike handling skills were not really very good back then.

A great event on all fronts & have ticked it off

i know the weather & water temp all add to it being such a tough event , But i would sign up more often if it in middle of summer when water & air temp a tad warmer

Same for me, water at that end is always likely to be cold though which doesn’t suit me and a thermal wetsuit is overkill.

But I’ve had all kinds of weather from glorious sunshine and heat versus a couple of years ago when I was getting hypothermia despite wearing lots of clothes!

It’s less of a problem when running as my body heats up much better than cycling but the swim just cools my core too much these days.

it was ever thus for me…

Forecast is looking better for next week but a bit far out, entries close on Saturday and despite it being nothing more than a training race I’m very tempted!

Has always been one of my favourite races and the 2020 race didn’t go well for me.

Yeah, that’s my big problem, 14c if we’re lucky doesn’t end well for me even with boots.

I think it should be 1k tops and the fish can do one :joy:

Hey! I’ve done 2 this year now! :joy: :joy: :joy:

Actually the cold is one thing I’m more than happy dealing with. Doesn’t bother me at all.

It’s just the swimming bit!

I haven’t swum in a wetsuit since June. I’m hoping for some free speed in a couple of weeks.

Hmm, leg has been nagging a bit this afternoon\evening, but probably because I’ve been sat a lot today.

Got until Saturday to decide, but it also sounds like there’s traffic lights near Matterdale.
