Yeah, I called him on that after I saw this image. He is the reigning 3x champ I believe (I don’t think we’ve been able to do one for a couple of years)
I think my informal/formal club needs to get one of these on the go this summer. This is right up our street and the only way I’d get 90% of the boys on a track or running a mile!
Love the chunder mile.
I did one in the first lockdown, 6:45.
You should have seen how much sick I produced.
Nice! That’s quick
Perhaps!
Don’t think mine counts. Tradition dictates if you’re sick it’s an automatic DQ.
Comedically, I’ve also seen one lad rage quit half way through chugging a beer. He turned round, and (accidentally) threw the remaining half (plus can) point blank in the face of another competitor.
Probably one for the rant thread as well.
Being 50% neoprene and 50% black witch on the legs of my archimedes I can just about accept. But now I have this gaping hole at the small of my back. As if I need anything else slowing me down on the frickin swim!
Can’t afford a new wettie now. Can’t afford the time to send it anywhere for repair as I need it in 4 weeks for race and want to actually do a few more swims.
I could swim in it today fine, but i’m worried it’ll get bigger every time I try to wrestle it on!
Yeah it think that’s what I’m gonna have to try I think. I did have dome black witch somewhere. Where is the flippin question! I did have a patch of neoprene from the suit when I bought it. I’ve an idea where that is.
Guess it can’t get any worse by trying!
Do you have any surf shops locally, they might do a repair for a few quid?
I’ve sewn bad rips together with dental floss & then slathered the join with Black Witch.
I ripped it 10yrs ago in T1 at Ad’H & I still use that suit for early season swims.
Not exactly an invisible mend I’ll admit, but I do look like a badass that has wrestled a croc
Nice. I may give it a shot.
Don’t worry. A few more weeks of this weather and you won’t need your wetsuit. 21.6C this morning.
Someone did comment that on my strava! Lakes up at 19 a couple of days ago apparently. So with your info, that’s 1 degree per day!
Pity it doesn’t have the same effect on the sea! Still takes a good 3-4 mins for the face to go numb!
I really, really do NOT need a no wetsuit swim!
I bought a new yonda suit and the fit is amazing. I was finding my old suit (2xu t2) would make my shoulders ache almost immediately. My first OW swim this week and new PB by 15s over 400m. In the water it feels brilliant.
But, the zip is reversed, so pull from bottom to top to remove. This felt OK but the zip jammed at the top so I had to get someone else to help me get it off. Instinct buyers remorse. I’m hoping it was a one off. I’m going to do a few dry runs before an event.
Has anyone else had a suit with reverse zip and had issues?
I recall B70 having a reverse zipper, but it was a “breakaway” type one and just sort of undid itself once you’d “popped” the top part - by lifting the zip up a little bit more (sing Gina G now…)
Yeah - looks like the Yonda is the same;
The athletes just simply pull the lanyard up and when it reaches the top the Velcro tab opens with little effort.
So you just yank the zip up a bit and pull to one side and zip should “breakaway”
Thanks, maybe a few test runs so that I’m losing the plot in T1
As poet says Blue70 have them, I’m not a huge fan and if you are on your own it’s almost impossible to zip it on.
One of the original quotes was that it stopped other people pulling your cord during a race and sabotaging it.
Can’t say I’ve ever had a problem getting it off but now got a Roka which is top down
