I’m not defending the guy at all, he’s a douche, hooooweeeeever (as Jayemm woould say) that kid doesn’t have the hat, the guy did get it first, at least it looks that way to me. The kid puts his hand on it afterwards.
The player isn’t really looking who he is giving the hat to but I’m assuming the kid asked for it?
Either way, the bigger man, was not….

You know what, maybe in the ‘excitement’ he didn’t twig that the kid wanted the hat (or was indeed entitled to it in any way). I guess when the kid got upset, he could have given it to him (he’s a grown man ffs - why does he need a sweaty hat) I would have. Then his doubling down online was a mistake.
We’ll never know, but it would be interesting to know any impact this is/will have on his business concerns.
He makes concrete paving in Poland, so I doubt if this is going to dent his business much

Totally missed this on Friday, looks like Ironman is selling out to the oil nations and has announced the 70.3 WC 2029 is going to be in Muscat, Oman. Also a full distance in the next year or so for the pro series. I’d have thought it would be very hot and not sure I’d want to go there.

Yeha CEO came on the broadcast banging on about it. They’ve got one of the big (a new one) races for the pro series too. Pro series rebranded as Oman series or summin.
Race will be in Dec. They already have a half in Bahrain don’t they?

I think there’s a couple of 70.3’s over that way already, if the race is December it rules out O\W training in a lot of Europe

There was a 70.3 in Muscat when we were there in Feb 2024 on a trip to Oman.
I am guessing that qualifying for Oman 70.3 worlds will not be challenging.

At Nice I chatted to loads of triathletes, including lots from USA - everyone who has raced at Kona and Nice felt that just holding the event in Kona is a mistake. When IM surveyed athletes, I am sure that there was a big US bias and most of the people who replied have zero chance of ever qualifying for a WC.
I guess it doesn’t matter as Oman will be the new IMWC venue when sufficient money is sent to Ironman’s bank account
