How much was the IM?
The licence fee doesn’t seem to bad in the grand scheme of things. The opposite of Tescos ‘Every little bit adds up’

That really was a great event! Just wish disc brakes existed back then ![]()
The Erding Oly Dist used to be great too, but they gradually dumbed down the bike course from one 40km scenic rolling loop, to 2x flat out & backs now I think. Shame.
Hopefully the person who designed (and measured) the 2019 IM Hamburg bike course is still serving time.
If memory serves, I think it was £440
Ouch, but it’ll sell out quickly as well! I paid a lot less for Versailles next month. And Belgrade was a lot cheaper but not an easy sell to the Mrs ![]()
You can avoid that by being a BTF member…which costs of course
Interesting… pretty sure I had to pay it for Barcelona.
When I entered I was a BTF member, or British Triathlon Member… I’ll check what I paid, but I might be remembering wrong but thought it only covered UK events… I know it covered Bolton, Swansea, Wales and Leeds.
I might be getting all this confused ![]()
Unless its the top tier level?
BTF race cover membership covers racing in Europe in all countries that are WT or ET members in events that are sanctioned/permitted by that country - you shouldn’t need to pay for a race licence if that is the case. However, not all IM events are sanctioned - or never used to be - but I believe the Spanish ones are.
Thanks, probably too late but I’ll check what I paid. Maybe I didn’t have to pay it.
I am totally done with IM, I can’t even get onto my event registrations, the Barc confirmation just takes me to a welcome back page here is what you can enter in 2027 wtf.
“Only FETRI (Spanish Triathlon Federation) licenses will be accepted. All athletes who do not have annual FETRI license must purchase a one-day license to ensure they are covered by insurance at the event.”
Are talking about different things? I am confused. And the IM site is shit, it is just trying to sell new registrations.
I am going back to the " Pretend That We’re Dead" ( Watcha Listening To?) thread, it makes more sense, things were simple in the 1990s
I think the headline cost for IM Austria in 2006 was something like €300.
It worked out as £260, which was exactly twice the cost of the 70.3 at Wimbleball that year
It sounds like the event isn’t covered by a FETRI permit so they won’t accept anything other than a Spanish licence. US IM events are similar - they don’t recognise other federation licences than their own.
I can check with some Spanish TOs I know if needed
I deferred from 2025 and fairly sure it made me pay for a day licence despite having the top level of BTA membership. Can’t see us getting a refund anyway.
Pretty sure I’ve had to be for USAT in the past couple of years as well.
Did you enter?
Fuck no, not for that money!
Haha, thought it would be a tough sell to the Mrs, and yourself.
Challenge still do reasonably priced races.
An alternative, if you want a holiday destination. https://challenge-mallorca.com/
Just over a third of the price of iM ![]()

Ironman have offered a deferral to anyone that DNF’d due to punctures at Hamburg on Sunday.
Option 1 is another race this year, not sure any are still open in Europe except maybe Leeds? Or to Hamburg 2027.
Not sure how many people are eligible but seems like a decent gesture. They said the course was checked and clear that morning so must have been sabotaged before they got there but I’d have expected the pro women to cop it first.
