Ideas for the future of Ironman

Here’s an idea for Ironman: change the logo.

I think you know why

Too much like Mensa, I know.

The future of Ironman is not to market as a weight loss program.

Spied this on the Lanza page, more upselling but might appeal to some people, doesn’t say how much though. Looks like EU residents can also pay be Klarna but doesn’t seem to include UK

The Flex Up refund protection optional add-on offers a 75% partial refund, giving you financial security against life’s unexpected moments, allowing you to commit to your event with confidence. This affordable add-on lets you secure a higher value partial refund, with the flexibility to redeem it up to 7 days before race day - no questions asked.

If you have to pay for ©Ironman events with Klarna, is it really for you?

Yeah, gives an idea of how expensive they are!

£370 for St Polten 70.3 next year, that’ll be tier 1 but includes fees.

I think that’s a decent rise from it being a challenge event.

Was always on my todo list but I’ve overspent a bit this month :face_with_spiral_eyes:

@Jorgan I’m sure I paid £200 in 2010

worth every penny if its still the same 2 lake swim and bike course. Run was pretty good but just up and down a canal twice with a loop around a business district

I think the run changed a few years ago now; but it was bliss compared to running around the lake at Outlaw 4 times!

I did not enjoy 4 times around that lake.
The much hyped Hooters aid station didn’t really deliver either!

Most of you probably won’t have been following this but after a new mayor in Nice the planned 70.3 WC in 2028/30 have now been binned and IM will need to find a new venue. Sounds like the standard 70.3/Ironman race is continuing for a few more years and this years WC is also safe.

The new mayor is the equivalent of a French Farrage by the sound of it.

This weekends races have just been cancelled too…

Blockquote the decision would avoid placing additional pressure on rescue and healthcare services, which are already heavily mobilised during the prolonged period of extreme heat.

Which is fair enough I guess

They reduced it a few years ago as well due to the heat. As you say the emergency services are already almost certainly working hard.

Mid summer races are getting increasingly risky.

Wonder what will happen with the 70.3 I’m doing in a fortnight, the long range forecast is suggesting severe heat again near Paris.

Rumours coming out that Frankfurt is being shortened

I think the weather in Nice this weekend is actually better than it was that year they shortened it (I was there supporting friends and it was HOT!). But the whole country is under so much strain at the moment because the WHOLE country is roasting, I can understand why it’s been cancelled. Many many events this weekend have gone.

Oh and the new mayor

Neither has made it to their socials team yet as they’ve just posted about Nice this weekend :joy:

Just seen this

Based on IM race fee, 12 hours of our time is worth about $800 so I think you should ask a minimum of $66.67

Frankfurt was bad in 2015. 40°C I think?

Yep
