2011 was errr… optimistic! Can’t seem to find my GPX but I think the run was about 2 miles short.
Bike was fine.

One year the bike was 17 miles short (2018). Then another they misplaced a turn cone and the run was several miles short.

Ah yes, forgot 2018, wasn’t there fires across the majority of the course meaning late changes to at least offer some race.

I know someone who is a one & done at Bolton in 2018. Would never have made the cut off if it was full distance; was 16:4x
Thankfully not the sort of person who crows about doing one, with all the merch/tattoo and I therefore never mentioned the missing 17 miles when I congratulated her.

Challenge Gran Canaria is changing to the 100K format next year, and a split race with the pros on Sunday so everyone can watch.
Not sure if it’s a permanent change or just because of the PTO race

Been doing the maths on the cost of Kona place in 2027. I would need to do and event to qualify and Kona itself. Entry fee for an IM is now around 1000 Euro. Then Kona is 1500+ Euro. After factoring in flights, accomodation, car hire etc, I am unlikely to see much change out of 10000 Euro. The cost of an Ironman is frankly insane now. Feels like total cost is increasing 10% YoY
I think my IM days may really be over. However, thinking about organising another Covid era informal event

Taking the lowest entry for IM Austria in 2009 of €350 (my list above) that would be around €510 in 2026. So yeah. Blame PE and social media.

I think TC thought it would be even more than £10k, but if you qualify early you might get first dibs on flights and accommodation.
I’ve got a feeling Chat 70.3WC next year is something like $900 US
