IM Frankfurt 2022

Yup!!!
I think Kona might be losing its sheen for a lot of the quicker folks (they’ve already been, don’t wanna go again, etc etc)
But yeah, to come home in 9:20 and be 19th in cat is ridiculous. Utterly insane.

@funkster - Bolton rolls deep. Very deep. Or at least it did in the gamble year of 2021. My mate was 83rd or something and got a slot :+1:t3:

I think Kona has lost its sheen and rolls will be substantially longer going forward.

Reasons could be many - it’s no longer everyone there on the 1 day event, cost of living (UK), Kona prices have genuinely gone insane (insane even by previously insane Kona standards), travel is a ball ache even if they sort current issues etc.

The bike course times had a lot of 4’s at the front of them

The run at Bolton does not suit me at all.
I cannot run uphill.

Have you done Bolton?
I hate hills too, but it’s not a proper hill at all - just power walk up it through the aid station.
The dual carriageway road bit is ace - a bit rolling to keep it interesting.

The recce I did of it, I really enjoyed.

Yes.

2016 and 2017

2016 my gel bottle yeeted coming down Sheephouse the first time and I had almost zero nutrition for 70 miles…
Came into T2 in 2nd place in AG up from 11th
4:34 later I was in 38th

2017
20th to 10th to 215th

Not this year I think.
I’ll still be the oldest in the AG and 40 slots would mean top 5

That’s not to say I won’t keep that in the back pocket for next year,
