IM Frankfurt 2022

Never doing Frankfurt again! I would be tempted to do Austria a third time tbh, and it would probably be my top recommendation for someone looking to do one abroad, esp with family.

Front pack swim, smoke the bike, walk or DNF the run.

I sat next to his Dad on the flight back from Klagenfurt in 2013; sounds like neither of them really ‘got it’ on how to execute a decent race without a meltdown. That IMUK win came so early, I think it skewed how they viewed it. In that race, PG DNF’d about halfway on the run; his neo Pro mate he was travelling with also did the same.

ETA - that was my second best IM. Finished off with a nice 3:34 run and didn’t walk a single step.

What’s he doing these days?

Still living with his parents?

Sorry it didn’t work out for you @funkster, seems like you did everything well enough with fuelling and limiting power 70% FTP on the bike not to have any major issue like you experienced. I can only think you had some bug or illness too minor for you to notice until under the kosh.

I don’t think you mentioned how you were taking salt, I assume you were in addition to the Gatorade?

The energy drink powder has electrolytes and I stuck in a 1500 Precision hydration as well :person_shrugging:t3:

Definitely think you’d have been near that on a good day. I think it might have rolled further this year, would be interesting to see.

Funkster sorry it didn’t go to plan esp after the wait. Hope you figure out what wasn’t quite right and go again ?

I was paying a bit more attention to the 50-54 AG….for some reason

Another one moving up :grimacing: M50 is getting stacked again.

Top 10 all went sub 10, and 5th was 9:38!

I was more interested in 7th-10th

7 slots yesterday for 50-54.
Don’t know the roll down.

I wondered how many slots in there. Probably why it’s a popular race.

Sub 10 would have just sneaked 10th place.

I did 10:10 but was a bit younger then and the bike is 2k longer. I’d be lucky to get anywhere close these days!

35-39 age group rolled to 19th around 9:20

I started feeling a bit throaty in the night after the race and a bit more yesterday afternoon but put it down to just the effects of the race then got the chills last night.

Then this when I arrived home:

Time to rest up now and get better for hoping the rolling stones next Saturday in Hyde park

It’s one of the reasons I target that race.

Regional champs has more slots.
Flat run.

South Africa is the same.

Pretty flat bike and Flat run. More of a challenge logistically though and pricy flights.

Did I miss a trick by going before the roll down.

I was 104th…

I didn’t go I was busy eating wurst and ice cream my mate told me who went but turned down a slot

Maastricht is still on tier 2 entries with 40 slots, pan flat run as well.

On so many levels. That it rolled to 19 and that 19th was 9:20…
