IM Lanzarote 2023

Im not going to say Im entering this, but well I am thinking about it.

If I take the next 5-6 months to lose weight and find the love of training again and sort my niggles out then can decide then if I want to go hard for a few months and train for this.

Might look for a pool sprint local late September and do that, just to see if Triathlon is something I still want to do

Was having a gander at flights. Initially thought they were expensive but checked my emaisl from when I went before and they arent much more than I paid 5 years ago.

Club Oceano looked reasonable when I checked it #justsaying

Yeah the Gloria Izaru I stayed at before is only about 60 quid a night including breakfast.

Its the week before half term so the kids cant come. Theyre going to go ape shit.

Signed up for 2023.

I did IM Lanza this year but had long Covid and did not do any run training. Had over 6 hours for marathon, but did not want to mainly walk round so showered and had some beers while waiting for some finishers I knew.

Really enjoyed the day. The cycle was brutal but I was expecting that. I was disappointed that there appeared to be no current on the long back leg of the swim. My slowest swim… Slower than Frankfurt when it was non wetsuit swim and I had a broken hand.

Lanza got me back into training though and signed up for IM Wales in September

So I have been in PDC for the week, I must say I am tempted to get involved in the 2023 race. Would be number 4 in Lanza for me so I know what to expect.

I now have no idea whether I’ll be racing. So much has changed since entering some time in 2020. I’d like to, but it’s looking complex.

Does anyone know if TT bike hire is a thing for the IM week in Lanza? If so, I guess it would need to be arranged sooner rather than later?

Revolution in PDC used to have stealths so could be an option. Certainly club la Santa will hire, but as you say , best booked now.

I’ve already reserved a bike box before my flights are available.

Spent the day with old Lanza YouTube’s on in the background the other day. Very nearly pit that in the training thread

Have you looked at one of the shipping options? Nirvana aren’t cheap but hopefully they’ll be going, and there’s one that’s getting pushed by Challenge atm that will ship.

Or would a road bike suffice?

Would prefer a TT bike, need all the help I can get these days.

Actually a motorbike might be the most suitable😐

Thanks though for the suggestions, I’ll look at those. Taking a bike sounds tricky, looking at flying Doha-Istanbul-Madrid-Lanza, what could go wrong . Maybe there is an easier route, haven’t properly looked into it yet tbh

Sounds like a bike trecking option to me

hire a bike from Bike sensations in PDC,

I’m not sure that Nirvana cover Lanza. Driving a van load of bikes from the UK is a bit more tricky if you need a ferry from the UK to France or Spain and then another from Spain to Lanza. It’ll be even worse with the post-Brexit paperwork that would be required for a van-load of bikes.

Yeah when I looked the only bike transport available to Lanza was from Spain on the ferry.

Pro-Bike in La Santa village. Maria Kalashnikov is the lady to speak to.

If you damage it though she’ll be gunning for you

Yeah, I wasn’t sure, had a feeling they used to when they were a big sponsor of the race but not sure they are now?

I am considering getting a quote from the other company for my trip to America but think it will be eye watering!
