Similar style to this fine garment?
I have no idea why I keep this stuff
Here’s the full (pirate) darts team from 2019. The lovely sheen of the tops reflects really well in the sun.
So you’re telling me that beers in Ruta 66 is gonna be a club run cosplay ?
And on a hanger!
Well, that was for exhibition purposes
Think I’m out.
Gave myself until March 1st to decide, & have been trying to keep up a fitness base so that a “walk it home” strategy would not be entirely ruled out, with a bit of emergency bike training in March and April . But I think this is the sensible decision sadly
The logistics are just too difficult now. Would involve returning to UK to collect bike and other kit en-route.
1 hour metro + 2 hour airport faff + 7 hour flight +
1 hour bus + 3 hour train + get bike box out of loft + squeeze race bike into box magic trick + 90 minute drive + another 2 hour airport faff+ 4 hour flight + taxi to hotel, I just can’t work up the head of steam required to do all that.
At the end of the day it’s meant to be fun, right?
Plus race day would be my first time on the tri bars since Sep 2022 and I haven’t ridden more than 2 hours since Cots in July 2022, or more than 3 hours since 2018 (and that was only because I got lost).
And originally, I had visions of a chilled family holiday like we have managed in Lanza before. But now wife and juniors can’t come because of work/ other stuff, and I don’t want to go on my own.
So, not this year, again.
Have a great race those who are doing it
Hire a bike?
Or just take your new road bike? Why do you need a wetsuit
Hi mate - do you happen to have Fabios work email please? I need to contact him - don’t want to use the general email then get fobbed off without him seeing it
Email was actually from this address;
Looks like the bike course has been updated on the website (https://cdn1.sportngin.com/attachments/document/ed9b-2458813/IM_Course_map-Bike.pdf) no road to playa blanca or el golfo totally out. Out and back towards Mancha Blanca from memory the road is really rough.
LZ-1 out and back as well should be interesting very fast usually with big tail wind then fighting back into it before the climbing to Tegusie.
Losing El Golfo is no big deal, it had some nice bits but some parts were tough and you were inches from a skin flailing on the lava thanks to narrow edges and no barriers.
The turns in Teguise make no sense. Is it a right turn right again u turn the turn right towards Haria?
Disagree EL Golfo was a fantastic part of the course the sea & lava fields & wind
its not meant to be easy or it would fill up every year
They seem to change the route significantly every year, how different to the 2019 course is it now?
Edit
Looks like the classic route will never return ,at least you still got the big climbs views & descents ( & wind)
Is the road from El Golfo to La Hoya still closed? Looked like bits of it were ready to drop into the Atlantic
The bike course when I first did the race. The classic! I think the original bike course looks like it has more climbing and descending but I know Lanza does not work like that! I am still looking forward to the race, but the changes certainly take away from the beauty of the original route and I don’t think the race will be as good as it was in the past. Still hoping for the same atmosphere we had previously.
Hope everyone’s training has been going well. Mine has been so so but at least I have kept it going and not had any long breaks due to work. Maybe we should arrange a TriTalk meet before or after the event? I will be in Ruta66 Sunday night come what may!
It’s still closed and not even being worked on to get it reopened atm. Must be 2 years now or very close to it.
It’s a shame it’s not in the race. I know you can sneak through the barriers but it’s a lovely road to ride
